Lucas gear oil any good? I seem to hear mixed reviews on Lucas brand as a whole.

It's not that Lucas is bad, it's just that it really isn't much better than a lot of other off-the-shelf products.

There are tons of gear oils out there with similar or better specs for roughly the same money.

It is that Lucas makes good products but then cheapens itself by selling their oil stabilizer and upper cylinder lube. Their motor/gear oils and ATF are good like the rest of the name brands.

Their weird marketing is a turn-off to a person like me. I wonder if they have the same ad agency as Bose.

I have always wondered that, Bose has some odd aggressive marketing... The kind that instantly makes me not want to buy from them..

This is how I feel.
But Lucas does hit some home runs with a few products.

I don't know how good their gear oil is, but I would never put their additives in a properly functioning differential or transmission.

I always feat that if I buy their gear oil or engine oil, that I might be stuck with that foamy additive they use.
