Lucas stabilizer

I have been using LUCAS OIL STABILIZER for about 4 years, 96 12 valve cummins 180000 miles. It re duces my oil consummation to just about zero. I have never seen any of conditions shone here. I also run it 50/50 in trans & rear. I do all my own servicing,so I would have seen if there any
aeration or compatibility problems. 9 quarts of rotella & 2 quarts stabilizer. For my application the stuff works great.

Do you have any UOA to prove it has worked well? How do you know there is no aeration unless you drain it immediately after running? Other than reduced consuption what benefits have you found?

Every time I change my oil I drain it after running. What does UOA mean?

No I never did a oil analysis,I thought about it about 100000 miles ago, but with the fuel turned up I figured it could only be bad news. 400 hp & 800 tq does come with a price. Fuel dilution, Thats were I feel the Lucas saves the motor.

I have to say that if you are happy with this mixture, then you need to keep doing as you have. If I suspect fuel dilution, I change oil and have it tested so I know the condition of the engine and oil. In fact I had a suspicion that my 95 was encountering Injector O ring problems and causing fuel dilution. I had a used oil analysis done and had 0 fuel dilution. Just a different way to deal with problems or suspected problems.

Doug60, I wouldn't dispute your experience with Lucas Oil Stabilizer at all.

However, it would probably be more cost effective to merely run a heavier weight lubricant in those applications where L.O.S. seems to have an effect.

If you do a search using the word "Stabilizer" or "Lucas" in this forum, you should find plenty of past discussion on their products ... mostly Stabilizer and the UCL ... upper cylinder lubricant.

I would really recommend that you take a look at the Schaeffers #132 EP treatment. It comes in pints and I think you could use just one to get the results that you desire, or 2 if you desire. This product has a time and place and because of your like for heavy oil and additives, I think you would be pleased with it:

59 Vetteman, I'm not really sure those two products have the same or similar-enough applications.

Lucas Oil Stabilizer is mostly an oil thickener pure and simple. Bob once told me it had ZERO barrier additives.

Schaeffer 132 starts off thick ... but most of the advantages it offers are those barrier wear additives. I believe it thins out when warm so the noise-deadening effects of a super-thick hydrodynamic film wouldn't be there.
