Hi all,

Just wondering what the general thoughs were on the Lucas oil range.

I thought they used to make a 20w 50 but I can not seem to find it.

Pep Boys in my area carry much of the oil line. There are several online sites that also sell it.

I have used it in several vehicles and all was well. Smooth, quiet with no loss in performance or mpg compared too the many major synthetics I had used previously and afterward. No UOA but the vehicles are still running strong.

I like trying different oils and a few extra dollars a qt in the scheme of things means zero to me..So I bought a few cases and used it.

Not many Lucas fans around here.

I used their oil additive - the one that's like honey. I didn't use much, but needless to say what's been left for a few years now is being used for other things. Live and learn.

Lucas must be making a boat load of money. Their advertising is everywere in racing circles. A friend in off road racing has a sponsorship from Lucas but lost it when they found out he was using Red Line. He said the sponsorship represented a contract to put the stickers on his car and do other promotional work. He said that after using their oil he switched back to Red Line. This is all just his opinion of the oils but he did do a bunch of uoa's and of course he had the advantage of basing his opinion on tear downs, something most of us don't do. He did say the Lucas people were a great bunch to deal with and they were very good to him, but he choose to use another oil inside the engine. He never had anything bad to say about the oil and uses in in his gas engine transporter truck, big block Chevy, and his generators, Onans, and for that he said it was a very good oil. For our purposes, mostly street drivers it sounds like a yes vote for Lucas. He also said he tried the Lucas gas and oil additives and could not figure out if they did anything or not and went back to Chevron once an oil change and Red Line gas additives every fillup.
