Very low wear metals, nice! I don't know much about this oil, is it a PAO base?

Steve,

What was the baseline viscosity of this oil @ 100C? I'd suspect it was 14.0-14.5 ....

This engine also seems to rapidly degrade the oil - perhaps this is why VW recommends 5000 mile oil change intervals. The high nitration and low TBN remind me of the Camry V-6 ....

The wear numbers are outstanding ....

see Virgin Analysis sample info...

I've seen a couple VW 1.8T UOA's recently and I figured I'd bump this up since I didn't specify a 1.8T in the original post. Nice to see more analysis showing up on this motor.

Actually, starting with 2001 model year, the oil change interval has been increased to 10,000 miles (at least in Audis with the same engine). A bit long, IMO, especially if it's not all just leisurely highway driving. The analysis I posted after 5K miles of mostly city driving showed that the M1 SS 5w-30 that was in there was almost ready to get changed. However, these Lubro Moly wear results from Steve_RI look a bit better than mine. Perhaps I'm a bit harder on the engine. Or perhaps Lubro Moly is a better oil.

So, Lubro Moly has no moly?

Lubro-Moly offers several oils.

Voll-Synthese Energy Motoroil 0/40 that is a specialty in-house product of Liquimoly of Germany

Voll-Synthese Fully Synthetic 5/40 and MOS2 Antifriction Super Motor Oil 10/40 they claim has the right amount of MoS2 for optimum wear protection and friction reduction. They state this oil is a hydrocracked base.

The other two does not say what base or if it has Mo or not. FWIW the 0/40 is the most expensive then the 5/40 and the 10/40 comes in the lesser cost oil. It's in TX,CA,and New Hampshire as far a availability is concerned,,probably more sources than that.
