I have a habit of changing all fluids at the 25,000 mile mark, and this includes differential fluids (front and rear). My manual calls for 80W-90, conforming to GL-5 specifications.
I used to use Motorcraft Rear Axle Lubricant (80W-90) GL-5, which I could get for $5 a quart. For whatever reason, I couldn't find it anywhere this time round. The alternative was GM Vehicle Care or ACDelco GL-5 80W-90, but I wasn't paying $9.75 per quart for that stuff...especially when it isn't synthetic.
I went to Ace Hardware, and I found something called High-Performance Gear Lube 80W-90 EP (Extreme Pressure additives). Conforms to GL-5 and some US Military Specifications. It's called LubriMatic, and is made by Plews/Edelmann of the Gates Group Company. For $4.95 per quart, I picked up 5. Just wondering if anybody here has used this before, and what they thought of it.
