I bought this to replace a setup where I use a power inverter and small compressor with a tank.

69284

The owners manual says it needs to be lubricated every 20 uses.

The problem is, it doesn't say how to lubricate it after 20 uses.

Does anyone have any ideas? I'm closing in on 20 uses.

I would just use harbor freights own compressor oil.

I would think a compressor like that would be sealed with life of the compressor oil. So adding some sounds odd to me.

There's no sump on this or any sort of splash lubrication. Kind of strange. They do specify that you have to lubricate the piston ring every 20 uses.

I bought the Pep Boys version of this compressor. I took it apart and found that the so called piston ring is actually a nylon cup, and the cylinder is lubed with grease.

If you replaced it after 20 uses that would be a little more than a buck a use.

Why not get a small 110V unit. Its got to be better around the garage for inflating things. Most people would toss this in their car and get one use every 5 years.

I ended up getting the HF compressor fluid for like $2 on sale or something. It's detergentless, but a lot heaver than SAE30.

Pulled the "front" off, dropped some drops in to lubricate the bearings in the bottom end, then tipped it upside down and put a few drops under the piston ring. Hooked it up to a DC power source, spun it a few times, then repeated again.

I have a Campbell Hausfeld FP209000R that I hook up to a power inverter and eventually to the car's battery or a spare car battery.

That's saved my rear end on the road many times, and been used quite a bit after off roading trips. However, it's pretty big to always carry around and throw between vehicles. This one first in it's own little bag. Much more convenient.

The CH compressor can run continually if needed - I don't think this HF one will be able to replace the CH compressor for off roading trips.
