LUBEGARD® Engine Flush is designed for use with or without a machine and will safely remove accumulated amounts of varnish, sludge and by-products of combustion. The removal of these deposits is done at a controlled rate so that large amounts of possible clearance blocking debris is not generated during this service. Lubegard Engine Flush with LXE® Technology is a premium synthetic blend that contains special detergents and dispersants and NO harmful solvents that will damage seals & gaskets.

cough, "auto-rx formulation" cough!!

Honda Guy - Careful. This product was advertised before AutoRx - not sure which actually was "designed" first, but Lubegard has been using natural esters in their Auto Transmission additives long before AutoRx went automotive. The owner of Lubegard knows his stuff (another Mobil guy)

It works well. Seems to have quietted down an annoying miss(plugs/wire/injector cleaner....didn't help). Makes me wonder if it was compression/carbon/? related.

One ounce per quart of oil is all you need.
$14 for 15 ounces at the local napa.
One bottle easily lasts 3 oil changes.
Lubegard smells pretty rancid.

I'm a firm believer in non welldrilled products.
Give me seed/plant/vegetable based products, at a reasonable cost, and I will convert.

Still waiting for soy motor oil to show up in a store. This could make flushes/cleaners obsolete.

I think that autorx is overpriced and overrated.

I have used Lubegard. The first time I ever tried it my engine seemed to run much smooter. I don't know how it compares to Auto-RX but Lubegard is supposed to consist of 'liquid wax esters.' So it is an ester product like Auto-RX. The liquid wax esters in Lubegard are supposed to be nearly identical to liquid wax esters that used to come from Sperm Whales. But the Lubegard esters come from plants, like Rapeseed. There was a famous chemist who used to work, I believe, if I remember correctly, for Exxon or Mobil, who was involved in the development of Lubegard. And the Department of Agriculture apparently helped because Lubegard is a product that comes from plants.

It is easier for me to believe in a product like Lubegard then PTFE additives and this other stuff you hear about. I know for a fact that Lubegard for transmissions used to be common in many automatic transmission shops. I have not seen the engine treatment as much.

I don't know what the situation is like today. But I know that you would be able to find Lubegard for transmissions in many automatic transmission shops in the past. It was a common sight.

Just one more thing. There were at least three car manufacturers that approved Lubegard; at least the Lubegard product that is used in automatic transmissions.

I never used the engine flush. I do know that the engine flush is supposed to use detergents and not solvents.

Lubegard with their transmission supplements and engine treatments seemed to talk mostly about friction reduction and wear reduction and not as much about cleaning. But esters are supposed to clean.

I was very surprised the first time I used Lubegard Engine Treatment. As soon as I added it to the engine the engine seemed to run noticably smoother.

This stuff Flush has been around since 1996 or thereabouts so it's not really new technology just not ever really discussed here since there is not a site supporter for the product .

It really works great and no need for the oil additive after cleaning . It's just marketing IMO to make a bit more money by selling additional product or bringing attention to it .

The price is around 7.00 at Napa stores or can be purchased direct and FWIW last time I used it went straight to a near year long oil change interval with excellent results whereas other OTC engine cleaners would require at least a short interval after using because of the chemicals whacking the new oil . These types work well too ...... ask Chris with the Saturn about Berrymans B-12 and what it's done for him
