The instructions state that it needs to be poured in the trans while the engine is idling. What is the logic of this. Why can't I just add it to my drain and fill while engine is off ?

Probably just want you to mix it asap.
All I do is pour an oz in the new bottle of fluid and give it a shake before I pour it into the trans. There's usually plenty of room in the bottle to do that.
You can! This is the only way that I have ever used LG PLATINUM.
The instructions do indeed say to add while the engine is running however, I have used the LG Plat and added it with my drain & refill(engine off) as the instructions state of 1oz. per qt. total capacity of ATF.
The next time you use the LG Plat, only use 1oz. per each qt. that you are adding for the D&F.
That is an excellent and very logical reminder, that may have escaped my thoughts.
