The key is just change it at 5,000 miles and no more. It’s that simple.

Wrong.
You cannot make a blanket statement like that.

10k OCI's have worked for me on a '13 3.5 and on my '17 3.5.
Feel free to look through all my old post if you like.
I sold the '13 at 147k.
The '17 is currently at 146k and will be staying around.
I just don't drive as much.

You have been very lucky. I’ve replaced several ecoboost for going per the oil life monitor using plain ole motorcraft 5w30 even some using Mobil 1 5w30, and never touched the ones that they listened to us and did the 5,000 mile OCI. The only manufacturers that have real specs are the euro brands. That is very stringent speced oil. Asian brands just use a basic Ilsac spec and ford has their BS spec which to be honest, people don’t use oils that meet those anyway. Do you know how many people out their with super duties use DELVAC 5w40 and it does not meet the WSS-M2C171-F1 specification which we were told by ford is only for the phosphorus amount. That spec It’s nothing special. Anyway there are lots of scorpions out there on delvac 5w40 and 5,000 mile OCI and the trucks are just chugging along. There are people won’t there using M1 FS 0w40, that surely is way better than any ford spec. When it comes to spec the euro brands are the only ones that’s important in. The domestic vehicle oil spec is nothing.
Just think of all the money and resources wasted by using a subpar oil and changing it at less than half the distance possible on a good oil.

Keep telling yourself that bud, what ever floats your boat, not my car you do you. I Only speak from real world experience with almost every manufacturer, almost. I just try and share things that happen on the job and where the problems lie. You don’t have to take the professional knowledge, neither does anyone on here. But always remember, there is a reason all automotive technicians advise 5,000 mile oci regardless of manufacturer and type of oil, viscosity, whatever. So see ya.
So now your one tiny little wrong window into people who fail to maintain their vehicles properly makes you the spokesman for all automotive technicians everywhere?

Mmkay, bud. Tell your wisdom to the fleet of 12,000 EcoBoosts running HPL PCMO for 15-20k mile OCIs to the tune of well over 2 BILLION documented miles over the past decade. There’s real proof there, not your sole opinion. Toodles 👋

You better go do research and go talk to actual techs, watch technicians YouTube’s videos. They say the boutique oils are a waste of money

I started my car hobby back in high school. Took auto mechanics for 4 years. Tore apart engines and transmissions. In my 20's I was involved in dirt track racing, where we also tore down engines, etc. You making just a blank statement to use Mobil 1 or Pennzoil is laughable. We determined many times,in our usage, that Schaeffer's oil was giving us better tear down results then your Mobil preaching. So when your saying boutique oils are a waste of money, your wrong. Do what makes you happy in your dealerships, but it's not as black and white as you want to make it.

I just used Mobil and Pennzoil as an example, you also have Valvoline. Anything that not HPL, Amsoil, redline, you get my drift? Shafers is not boutique oil.

1 quart in 11k miles. Won’t see much better from any engine. You’re just being argumentative for the sake of arguing.
You wanna bet. When I worked at Toyota we had a customer who had a Camry that never used a drop with 350,000 miles on it. He was a Coca Cola rep and drove all over the country. He changed oil at 5,000 miles never over.

You better go do research and go talk to actual techs, watch technicians YouTube’s videos. They say the boutique oils are a waste of money and just regular ole Pennzoil platinum or Mobil 1 is just fine, just change at 5,000 miles. Problem is there is not a lot of techs on here, or they won’t say nothing bc it’s exhausting trying to explain to people like I am for the members to just come back with all the opinions like the ones I’m dealing with now, so they just make YouTube videos instead. Every dealership I have worked at Bob is the oil guy is brought up quite often from customers and technicians. I had a short lived career at Exxon Mobil Chalmette refinery and that is where I learned about this site, bc it was even talked about then In that industry. This site is popular and not in good ways out in the dealership world, he’ll even in the oil industry. **** y’all even chastise this poor lake speed jr and he is a specialist in the matter and some of the members here say he is wrong. I mean Come on!
And yet, here you are.

Now you are backtracking. Anything that cannot be found on a Walmart store shelf, AutoZone, Advance Auto parts, etc I was told was a boutique oil 🤣

I hope you’re not comparing old Chevy 350’s to modern engines. If that’s the case, that’s not a fair comparison. You can do anything in a Chevy 350.

Sure, I’ll take that bet. Provide me proof of this 350,000 mile Camry that “never used a drop.”

I’ll wait.

You’ll probably “work” at a half dozen other dealerships before I ever see proof of this imaginary Camry.

Thanks for the laughs. We get it, you’ve seen everything, worked everywhere, and know better than the actual oil formulators on this site, and the loads of data contrary to your opinions are clearly lies. When are you going to start your own oil knowledge site to counter all the falsehoods here?

yeah the proof was on the dipstick as it was checked before draining to see. Are you serious why would we document that. Its not uncommon when the oil is changed regularly.

Now you are putting words in my mouth. I never said I was an oil formulator. I worked at Exxon for a short time. I always wanted to work on cars and not just for one manufacturer. It was a goal of mine to work at most of them and I’m not there yet and might not get to. majority of people want to here real world from actual techs. I can’t tell you how many times I am stopped in Walmart or a store if I have my uniform on.

You asked me if I “wanna make a bet.”

Typically, that means someone has some kind of proof to back up their point.

Unless they’re lying.
