LSJR on oil consumption

He mentions the notorious LS PCV issue. The PCV on my '02 Tahoe was clogged up when I got it, and it had a rear main seal leak. I put in a new PCV with a catch can which solved that issue. Unfortunately, GM and the infinite bath of steamy cow manure they call engineering decided a teflon seal, which no seal conditioner will work on, was a good idea. Since I didn't want to drop the transmission just to replace a seal, I put an open orifice PCV in with a 3 psi (6 inHg) check valve on the inlet side of the PCV system. Thus, intake vacuum can draw crankcase vacuum to -6 inHg. This pulls inwards on the seals and has mostly stopped the rear main seal leak. Comparing the regular PCV setup to the open orifice PCV with crankcase vacuum, I've seen no difference in oil vapor/consumption on the dipstick nor in the catch can.

When he mentioned Noack, I wish he would've touched on TGA. Being that it's not a part of the API realm, I can see why he didn't.

I also want to add that oil consumption can be a compounding issue. Oil in the combustion chamber can cause detonation which lowers ring tension leading to more oil in the combustion chamber causing more detonation. If oil in the chamber doesn't cause detonation, it can still greatly increase chamber/piston deposits which can cause detonation. (and poor combustion in general)

Top tier fuel isn’t just a marketing gimmick, high quality oils are actually better for engine performance and longevity vs budget oils, -40 may not be the best viscosity for low tension piston ring applications.

Bro was most definitely targeting the all BITOGERS/haters with this video. If you’re reading this Lake - well done, sir! 🤣 👏🫡

I want his shirt.

Oil hoarders; sorry, oil goes bad. Thickies freaking out over - 8 and - 16; it’s fine, here let me put some in daughter’s vehicle. TT skeptics; um, actually it does have more additives and cleans better. Budget oil is just as good a top tier oils; nope, but nice consumption problem you caused there. - 40 in everything; not so fast there with those low tension rings, skippy.

I don’t know if it’s intentional or not but he is basically slow burning a troll on your haters clinic.

Wonder what "W2-40" is 🤔
