What would be considerd a lower bound for Viscosity Index of a 10w30 oil and are there any brands that achieve this? What can be guessed about base oils or other properties for such an oil?

Most low vii oils are cheaper made than the 5w-30 and use the less vm as an excuse to use a cheaper base. Only with conventionals do you still get a slightly better oil like valvoline conventional 5w-30 being 2.9 hths and the 10w-30 having a lower kv100 but is 3.1 hths. Only with boutiqes like hpl do you still get the same good base just with less vm added but at the same time better oils use better vm that perform better than the cheap vm of cheap oils. Also not all bases have the same vii. PAO has a natural vii of 125-150 and up to 210 for extra high viscosity mpao but an unaltered group 2 is around 95-115 and with vm added it can be 130 so you'd think it'd be better than pao with a natural vii 140 but it's not.

I meant within the synthetic oils and I meant viscosity index. Trying to see if 10w30's VI can shed some light on base oil and how much VII would be present.

Going about the business backwards. What is the purpose?
The information you seek to know is mostly unknown or inferred unless provided by the manufacturer.

No purpose lol. Trying to see if any off the shelf synthetic 10w30 has vi less than150 and what can we infer if any from that. Pennzoil Platinum 10w30 has VI of 150. Wondering if another brand has lower than that for synthetic 10w30?

The discontinued Amsoil ACD SAE 30 did not have VII added and was a synthetic 10w30 in winter rating as well. The VI was 141. https://wisesynthetics.com/products/diesel_oil/acd/

RLI makes a similar product SAE 30/10w30 and the VI is 151. Not sure if RLI uses polymers or if they would tell you if you asked.

Based on the information above, a synthetic 10w30 with no polymers added would be in the range of 141-151 for viscosity index

Delvac Extreme CK-4 10w30 is 140
Delvac Extreme FE FA-4 10w30 is 140
Amsoil ADN is 147

Citgo 600 10w-30 has VI 141 ,its a conventional oil,not a blend.good snout oil.and Citgo 700 MFE 10w-30 has a VI at 136. and its a blend.
