Lowes now limits discounts for Vets

Personally I think Lowes won’t exist in less than 5 years. The layout of the stores alone demonstrates that they no longer know the reason for their existence.
Went to Lowes yesterday to buy a refrigerator and found that they had stopped honoring Vet discounts on higher priced items. Said they did this March '22.
Don’t forget, the discount no longer applies to anything on sale either; even if it’s clearance and marked down say $0.09 on a $30 item, the sale/clearance price is the only deal you get.

AFAIK, Home Depot still does 10% across the board.

Might want to go back and read the thread I linked in post #12.

not across the board....

I'm not so sure that Lowes eliminated Veteran discount. I bought a $1500 snowblower one month ago and received the 10% discount. I purchased something else for $60 about two weeks ago and received the discount. I don't recall buying anything on a sale lately, but always got the discount on top of the sale price previously. I have a "My Lowes" card that carries the discount. The most recent time I used it, was the first time I was asked for photo ID along with the Lowes card.

Last month I got a new front door through Lowes. It was 2900.00 They gave me 10% vet discount. I also agree that no one owes me anything for my service, but if offered, it would be kind of silly not to accept. I joined the Army back in 1967 and the only thing I expected was a honorable discharge when I ended my service. Got it.

Look at the Lowes web site.. It explains the NEW Veteran discount changes. It happened early last year...

I'd like to see all big box stores disappear off the face of the earth; not just Lowes.

Free shipping and no sales tax... I might just re-up :)

It appears that sale items are no longer discounted. I only glanced at the FAQ's, but it looks like major appliances, etc. are no longer discounted. Otherwise, 10 percent discount everyday. I was just relating my recent experiences.

OH, I know. You truly have to compare shop these things. I make oil purchases twice a year so I look around and buy the best deal I can find at the time of my purchase.

Valvoline lost my bid this year due to lack of technical correspondence. I ask a simple question and I expect a simple answer. If they can't be bothered with answering it then I keep looking.

Amsoil lost the entire years purchase... once again. They simple are not detail oriented enough for me to trust them. I ask a question and their technical reply is completely unrelated to my question so I just keep going.

This months purchases are going to Mobil. They're getting the engine oil, driveline fluid and filter contract for the next year.

The AAFES exchange is something that puts some money back into the military MWR (moral, welfare and recreation) coffers so I give them the benefit. Their prices are rarely better than WalMart or Sam's but the sales tax and free shipping goes a long way. Plus, I like having my vacuum cleaner bags ship from an Air Force base in Texas :)
