I have only 28k miles on my '05' Blazer and the build date is 09/04. So I am about 4 yrs and 3 months old on the Dex-Cool. It looks good so far, but I dont want to keep opening the radiator or resivoir to check and be letting air into the system! The Owners manual says 150k miles or 5yrs. But I know all about the Dex-Cool problems with manifold gaskets and heater cores, especially in the 4.3L Blazer/Jimmys'. My factory warranty ends in 2 weeks. Do you guys think I should change it? If so, should I stickwith GM's current Dex-Cool or go Peak Global or Prestone?

You can never change your oil or your coolant too often - as long as you're willing to pay for it.

I just changed out the coolant my 06 Chrysler Sebring with Prestone. Was this a bad move? Should I dump it soon or run it for 20k miles? I changed it out on a Sunday when the parts dept. at the dealerships were closed, so I was unable to get OEM fluid.
as long as you are out of warrantee change it to something else in my shop when we rebuild and engine that requires dex cool we flush the system with water then use zo5 or the green prestone the sludge from the dexcool in a lot of cases is unbelievable!
I agree, Peak Global or a G-05. You want a non 2-EH antifreeze. But I would take some time to flush the DexCool. You may want to do several radiator drain and refills with distilled water. But its cold in the North. If you have soft city water you could use one of the radiator flush tee kits, but you do not want to end with hard well water in your radiator.
However you do it, I would not keep DexCool in my cooling system one minute longer than I needed to for warranty.

So which coolant is the most compatible with DexCool incase there is a little left in the system? I am leaning towards Peak Global but want expert opinions, as I will be pulling the truck out of storage and using it for delivering and hauling for my business.!

i have a 2005 BLAZERzR2 it has the same motor 4.3 with 82.000 kilometers [48,000 miles] and i am not worried at all ..i don't remove my rad cap for nothing [and let air in] the biggest problem is people putting all kinds of junk into coolant system ..most people that have trouble is because they don't do they're own maintenace

I talked to my stealership about doing a coolant change on my '05' Blazer , and they charge $89.99 for a Dex-cool drain/fill, or $129.99 for 2-3drain fills with Green. I would do it myself, but I dont have anywhere to hookup and let the old stuff drain out, etc. They said that "the available Dex-cool is a better and problem-free version of priors"

I would start to do drain and refills with G-05. You can buy a drain contain at Walmart for under $3.00, and just drain the radiator and refill with G-05.
