It seems that Dexcool does better in engines with "dry" IMs and aluminum blocks, but it will still turn to sludge if there are any air leaks in the cooling system.

No so, only the ones with Aluminum blocks and Cast iron heads. If you have an all Aluminum motor LS1, LS2, LS3, LSA, LS7, LS9 etc the problem does not occure because all the metals are Aluminum.

Dexcool is a very good product and if you read the original post from the beginning, the OP is saying a 2004 (we are in 2010), it should have been changed before 2009. (5 years max) and with more than 200k miles on the car, it should have been changed way before that when referring to the owners manual.

So i don't think dexcool is a bad product but I think if there is NEGLIGENCE, the product will cause problem.

Good point.

I think Dexcool should be treated as an "every other year" product. Half the problem with it is that they marketed it as a 5 yr/100,000 mile product. In my opinion.
