Dex Cool, Dex Clones, Other Oats

There's been lots of talk here lately about Peak Lifetime Global, which is a type of oat coolant that claims it can replace all other coolants.

I hope maybe we could clear up some confusion about Dex type/oat coolants.

1. I thought I read that GM not only changed their intake gaskets, but also changed the Dex Cool chemistry to be safer. Does anyone know if this it true??

2. Which after market products do NOT contain 2EHA, the chemical thought to be hard on gaskets? Prestone All Makes?
The Zerex MSDS shows 2EHA. Peak Global doesn't.

3. Anyone know the chemistry of the Peak Global? It's rather amazing that it claims it can be used where G05, Dex Cool, and the Japanese coolants are recommended.

FYI, at my workplace, the garage replaced the G05 in my Ram with the Peak Global against my wishes. I am going to keep it in as a guinea pig.

I think Peak Global is the only all makes/models antifreeze that does not contain 2-EHA.

Of course Zerex G-05 does not contain a 2-EHA but its not a all/makes models antifreeze, you need to switch out the old antifreeze then add G-05.

Why would GM change the formula of a product that they don't own? Dexcool is a proprietary product of Havoline and Texaco. Doesn't GM license Dexcool from Havoline? If so, they wouldn't have the right to change its formula.

Good question. I have been under the impression that Dexcool is a GM brand. I'm pretty sure that I have seen it identified as such.

I am aware that Texaco was involved in the development of Dexcool, or at least claimed to be.

I am sure that if either flexed it's muscle, that the other would change to meet the demand. Too much $$ involved in that handshake to not bend alittle for each other..
