Low driving miles oil change interval

BMW M series used to factory spec a break-in oil change interval of around 1300-1500 miles when new. If you have the rare pleasure of owning a brand new car why not consider an oil change now as your break-in. This drains any metals, material circulating in the motor.

The owners manual for my Kia GDI says 7,500 miles or 12 months for normal schedule and 3,750 or 6 months for the severe schedule (short trips would fall in that category). Your manual might say something similar.

many folks do an early oil change on a new car to remove the factory fill’s break-in residue wear, so a 6mo/1700 mi first-time oci can be prudent now from this perspective too. after this initial change, i would do a 12 mo oci, at most 18 mo oci, it being a turbo engine and all.
