My car has always had some fine swirl marks since I started being the only driver, because I can't control what car washes other people go to or how they treat the paint otherwise. Most of the marks seem to not really be swirl marks, they seem to be mostly straight rather than circular.

Anyway, it now has millions of fairly fine (but not extremely light, it could be much finer and a bit shallower) scratches. I've tried removing them with meguiar's ultimate compound, and meguiar's ultimate polish, spent quite a bit of time. Neither did anything to help the scratches.

What could I do, and how much would it cost to have a professional do it better?

edit: Can't pictures right now, I've tried with every camera I have, and they don't show up.

A dual-action polisher along with the appropriate pads should correct those out with what you have on hand already. It's crazy how much more work a DA polisher can do than hand polishing.

Like I said, the scratches won't show up on any camera I have. I can try to find a better one and different artificial lighting tomorrow.

Hey, if you're around the South Metro, PM me and bring it over.

I can check it out & demo it for you with my DA polisher; and if you're a good guy, I can do it for ya.

Ultimate Compound is OK, M105 is better. Meguires M105 is a bugger to use though.

Was that Meguires DA the one that goes on the end of a hand drill? That's not really a DA and better for just applying wax.

I really like my Harbor Freight DA. Sure, not as good as a flex, but its 1/4th the price. It needs different pads and backing plate though as the ones it comes with are [censored].

I just did the hood of my wife's car last night, m105 was taking car wash scratches out in one pass. It was hazing a bit on this black car, but some m205 took care of that.
