I had two dogs....an old mutt and my bull mastiff...when i was recalled to active duty the first time after 9/11, Chub (the mutt, #@$%! rest her soul) got sick...after 3 weeks of training, she had pneumonia, so we put her on two weeks of antibiotics...it didn't help...so after 13 years, I had to put her down before I shipped out and took my BullMastiff, Sarge, to my ex-gf to take care of while I was gone...sad day, weeks, months....years.
here are some pics
I love the two bottom pics, reversal in size...

We are soon going to experience what you have. Our two Malteasers are getting old and arthritis has badly affected the oldest (12yrs). We have had many pets but these are our first small dogs, we still call them puppies. All the best to you and good luck with your new puppy search...s

Thanks. My wife picked up Pudges ashes this afternoon and promptly backed the 4 runner into a tree. I could see myself doing the same right now.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I cried so much that it was hard for me to read about your loss. I am like Blue Goose I always say no more pets --but I am always a liar. You may have to give you other little one something to help her get through the grieving process. I had to when we lost our Min Pin. My (Tony's) sheltie had to given pills we lost Tony also. They grieve just like humans but they can't talk about it. It will take a while but it will get easier. They love so comletely.

I lost my long-time buddy, the Maine Coon named Arizona, seven years ago, and I still miss him.

Miss Linda and I went down to the French Quarter on Saturday, stopped off at St. Louis Cathedral, and lit a candle for her late cat, Marie-Antoinette (aka "The Queen"). Perhaps you could do the same. . . .

Thank you for the suggestion. I have been writing in a diary daily about my boy daily. Of all my memories of him and the places we went things we did together and games he liked to play. I ordered prints of all his pictures and when I get home I am going to put together an album combining the diary with pictures. I am rather sentimental and I very afraid I am going to forget something about Pudge, I am sure it is impossible but the recording of memories is theraputic for me.
