Comptech recommends Redline High-Temperature ATF in all Honda transmissions. According to their in-house transmission, they have had no shifting issues when using the Redline High-Temperature ATF in place of Honda Z1.
Redline High-Temperature ATF is a 10.0 cst fluid, compared to 7.5 cst for most ATFs. It is also Dexron-III/Mercon rated, which is a
for long-term use in a Honda transmission requiring Honda Z1.
Apparently, unless their position has changed, Redline's technical department believes that there should be no problems with using Redline High-Temperature ATF in place of Honda Z1; it makes me wonder if they even realize that there are differences in the dynamic friction properties.
