The base I have is a marine fuel filter. It has an 11/16-16 thread for spin on filters.
I wanted to recycle this base to use for a transmission filter

I found a 4070 Napa-WIX coolant filter of 27 microns, but it has no internal bypass builtin.
Anyone know of a filter number that uses that thread with an internal bypass? see if you put a filtr in the trans cooler line, you really should have a bypass valve.

Apparently 12/16 -16 is a very standard sized oil filter. Found many with same gasket size.
Do you think 1/16" difference too big would prevent the filter from screwing on at all or will it just have sloppy threads.

Yes, 1/16" off isn't going to work ideally. It would probably screw on, but I wouldn't chance the sloppy thread engagement.
