Anyone know of any nice dress watches?
Military ball after deployment when we get back... I want a nice dress watch that's affordable.
Looking at rolex, pretty pricy.
Looking at Nixon brand as well, I own a few of their sport/outdoor watches...

Define affordable. $100? $300? $1000?

Do you prefer a bracelet (metal band) or leather?

Quartz? Automatic? Mechanical?

Need more info.
Do you like bigger watches like 44mm or the classic 40mm?
Color SS or SS/gold, gold.
Chrono or 2 hand
Leather or bracelet

Which Rolex model were you looking at? How much are you looking to spend?

Between the 200-1000$ range, though 200$-500$ is preferred.
Quartz movement I like best, and metal band.

I've always had a soft spot for Bulova. No particular reason why though. They like to play in the 200-500 range as well.

Been a few years, but I've always like Seikos and they were sold @ the BX/PX for about $125.

I'm not wearing anything $500 on my arm as I tend to ruin stuff like that easily.

I've had two Breitlings (still have one), a Tag and an Omega, but I don't want another mechanical watch. They are expensive to service and not very accurate. Citizen actually has some very attractive watches that won't break the bank. I think their solar movement is about the best.

I would stick with something like a Tissot, Seiko, or Citizen. Victorinox watches are worth considering too.

Amazon is a good place to start since you can filter by size, color, brand, price, movement, etc. Just be careful buying on there or you'll end up with a gray-market item that the manufacturer won't repair under warranty. Amazon and the sellers on there are very careful to never say they are an authorized reseller and that the warranties are through the seller only.

I am a Bulova fan too. Wore mine to Church today.

Need more info. What's the girl look like? Post some pictures if possible. I'd be more concerned about this topic than a crummy watch.

+2. Of my three watches my two favorites are Bulovas.

Vintage Bulovas are excellent. The stuff made in the last 10-15 years is not as good. They are now owned by Citizen, FYI. The only Bulova I would tell you to consider these days is the Precisionist line.

Very few of these still available, I have one and its a nice watch. The movement is a higher end, metal 22 jewel ETA 251.272 and not some plastic G10 throw away.
The picture does not do it justice, the dial is mother of pearl.

Edit: BTW this is a real Swiss Made Bulova before Citizen got their hands on it.

I would wear the [censored] out of that watch.

One of these years I will buy a true dress watch -- probably a Grand Seiko.

I'd go with the watch that Trav linked to, or else a seiko kinetic in your price range.

To add to what other have already said, stay away from "designer" watches. If the watch is branded with a fashion designer's name, there likely isn't anything luxury about it.

For example, Burberry, DKNY, Emporio Armani, Armani Exchange, Diesel, Frank Gehry, Karl Lagerfeld, Michael Kors, and Marc Jacobs watches are all produced by Fossil.
