Looking For A New Mattress Anyone Know About Them?

I am having back problems lately and think it may be caused by my mattress.. Did anyone here have back pain from their mattress?
Also i know nothing about them.. Anyone have any hints on what mattress to get?
I am Not looking to break the bank my wife on the other hand...

My wife did. We went to Costco and got one of those blue foam toppers for the mattress and that was the end of her problems. I have slept on sheet rock and woke up just fine, so I'm no help

We have a relatively soft mattress as well, I'm not a fan.
Many nights I sleep flat on my back with no pillow.
My thinking is that my spine/neck needs to be as straight as possible while sleeping.

I have been eyeballing a tuft and needle firm.

I had minor back issues and frequently had an issue where I'd wake up with numb arm(s) with my old plush pillow top AND my wife's old firm mattress (still do, since its in her mom's spare room, for when we visit)

We spent significantly less (and took a risk) on a Bobopedic (Tempurpedic knockoff) gel and memory foam mattress. After a couple of years I am still very, very impressed with it. Besides visiting the in laws, I travel and sleep in strange beds up to a few week each year and my first night's sleep back home is always a relief.

Almost impossible to compare store to store and a mattress is a BIG commission item for salesman. Start at the back of the store and work forward until you find one you like.

I've got a $2000 Sterns & Foster mattress propped up against the wall in the upstairs hallway and I've been sleeping on a $300 mattress I got off Amazon for the last 8 months. Why? Because the $300 mattress is the best sleeping mattress I've ever had. Period.

I discovered this mattress totally by accident. I was visiting a friend last summer who had put one of these "cheap" mattresses on the bed in his guest room. The whole time I was there, my sciatica never bothered me and I slept like a baby. I asked him about the mattress and he pointed me to Amazon. I promptly ordered one for my bed and have not looked back. As I said, the S&F is out in the hall, where it will remain until I finally call Goodwill or the Salvation Army to come get it.

We bought one for our 12-year-old son for his twin bed and he loves it. I tried it and was quite impressed with how comfortable it is and I didn't feel any "pressure points" but it still has good support without being too hard.

Our mattress is a Jamison King-size "Marriott Bed" foam mattress model that has been used in many Marriott hotels since the mid-60s.

I found out about them on a business trip 12 years ago and the hotel gave me the company's contact information. We have enjoyed it very much compared to the very hard Serta extra firm innerspring mattress that we had earlier. However, the price for the mattress and box spring have nearly doubled since we purchased ours in 2004.

I recommend buying somewhere that has a good exchange policy. I suggest you locate a Restonic retailer. Restonic uses a unique "marvelous middle" technology which might be the thing if you have back issues.

My wife has had three back surgeries, and I have found over a 35 year period that it's not worth cheaping out on a mattress. You spend about one third of your life on one, so within your budget, go spend a few bucks. I've been happy with both a Tempur-Pedic mid-level model and the Simmons Comfor-Pedic Mystere (2007). We prefer the extra comfort of the Simmons, but it takes two strong men to move it.

My lower back has been a pain in the...uh ...back for a while now. I think it's a combination of a [censored] mattress and a [censored] couch. To make a long story short, I've been doing some stretches that have really helped. I lay on the bed with a pillow folded in half and placed under my lower back. It feels VERY uncomfortable but I just focus on relaxing all my muscles for a few minutes, then SLOWLY roll off and lift my knees into a crunch position, for a minute then slowly sit up, stand, and walk around. Then lay face down on a Swiss ball rolling between my hips and sternum while relaxing all muscles, this is also uncomfortable, then slowly stand up. Two sets of these exercises along with some lower body stretches, have kept me from replacing my crummy furniture.

Just don't get a Tempurpedic. We had one, and actually did a couple exchanges for different models, and they all killed our backs. They make your hips sink more than the rest of your body and make you go into lordosis (your lower spine arching a lot).

We went with a local manufacturer, there are lots around the country. I suggest a firmer model if you have back problems. Remember that they will soften up a fair amount in the first few months. You can always put more padding on but you can't make it more firm.

I suggest reading up on mattress underground website. Most retailers are like snake oil salesman. If they can't tell you the exact density of the foam and composition of every layer in the mattress run.

Here is some starter information. I recently bought a Brooklyn bedding soft mattress online and paired it with a Knickerbocker monster bed frame and simple life foundation from Brooklyn bedding also. We had the medium but it was too firm, the return was very easy. It's a high quality latex mattress with a foam core

I have back pain, and have always heard that firm beds are better. But they always hurt my back more. My new soft bed is much better on my back.

5 years ago, I could have written this same post. After a weekend vacation the wife and I realized the problem was our mattress.

After a bit of research we decided to get an Ultimate Dreams Latex mattress.

After an initial enquiry with UD, we received a phone call, and disscussed our comfort level with regards firmness, based on brand name mattresses we had tested.

We had to cross the boarder to receive the mattress, delivered to a UPS store. But the cost saving was significant.

Now, 5 years later, we both thank the day we bought that mattress.

I have no association with Ultimate Dreams, or any other bedding company. I just want to say that we have been impressed with theirs product and service.

You spend one third of your life on a mattress (!!!)

A very wise man I look up to once told me, don't be cheap and frivolous when it comes to buying a mattress, or when buying a pair of work boots. The wrong mattress and the wrong pair of shoes can and will have a detrimental impact on your well being.

We drop a couple of thousand dollars about every ten years or so on a mattress, and we sleep like absolute babies on our current mattress. It's almost impossible to get out of on a Saturday or Sunday morning, it's so comfortable.

Don't go cheap. Your wife is right.

I did a lot of research on that site as well before we purchased, and it was well worth it.
