EDIT: None of those devices are currently being made/sold.

does this mean my stereo cannot play with anything else? seems kinda silly that I can't use something else that's also USB 2.0 with an MP3 file

P.S., the device I'm attempting to use is in the link below. I have a version that's dark grey in color and nicely matches my deck and dash.

It's an old list, and not an exhaustive one either.

Trial and error, I guess. I would try a low capacity SanDisk drive - they usually play nice with everything.

There is a company online called sonic electronics.

They sell a ton of headunits with no cd player, but they have USB and some have memory card sticks also.

Some are like 60 bucks.

thanks

I just read in my owners manual that if I get the "not supported" message, to remove and try again once every few minutes. this will basically reset the usb as it tries to re-read what's on the usb

That is why I was asking you earlier about what shows up on the display when you plug it in, but you never responded.

might just be cheaper (and easier) to just get another deck that will accept the USB sticks I have. Again, just seems silly that the stereo seems to only take certain USB's, but not all

thanks for all the help guys!

Assuming you have tried lower capacity USB stick and also tried different MP3 encoding, then yes, new head unit would be the answer.

Since your current deck has an AUX input, another option would be to just buy a cheap $30 MP3 player and connect it to this input. Alas, that's a less cleaner solution as you will have the aux cable and will also need to worry about powering/charging the MP3 player. But that is in fact what I'm doing in my BMW since I don't want to get rid of the factory deck.

I had an Alpine (made in china), the bluetooth didn't work properly after a while.

Replaced with a Pioneer, it's absolutely perfect.
