Nothing strong as far as how well the CVT lasts. Its a nice operating transmission.

Yep, 2.5l still has belts. The 3.0 6 cyl has a chain (and a cover from heck...)

I was given one as a loaner when my Impreza was being serviced. It's a sweet car. The CVT is super smooth when comparing it to Honda CVT. I would say go for it. Subaru offers a more personalized experience, at least for me and my dealership. It's not owning any other brand of car, because it's a small niche brand.
 
The only problem I'm aware of on the OLDER 2.5L engines were the head gaskets. A LOT of failures and Subaru was slow to correct the problem (mostly in the late 1990's through early to mid-2000's models). I think the issue is corrected for the last few model years (BTW, that CVT is an in-house design that uses a chain vs. a steel belt and has been highly praised...should be good).
