Stayed clean not 'collecting' dirt?

Would that be a good thing?

My oil normally gets pretty dark after 4k. But I have done some long interstate trips where the oil stays clean much longer (in miles)

The point is

We have 8000mi on M1 EP and M1 filter it is very clear looking 1 year later, 95% city driving. I will change in 500mi.

There is a 2011 Toyota Tacoma with the 2.7 that we service at work. Use Kendall 0w-20 and an E-core. Owner goes about 5K on it before coming back. The used oil comes out looking brand spankin new.

Because the cars burn cleaner, you have to figure in that over the past 20 years we have better fuel injection, better oils that prevent build up of gunk, better filters, even cleaner burning gasoline (E10 and other oxygenated fuel). So factor that in when you see oil coming out of a new car.

I think that depends on engine design and what you consider clean.

I can see a little contamination in my 4.7L Mopar after only 2,000 miles.

I can easily read the dipstick markings through the oil in my Series 60 Detroit after 30,000 miles.
