Long Mileage Oil Filters???

Hello to all,

I was wondering if their's any oil filter brand that has claimes to be a long distance mileage filter??? This is due to the great varying opinion on what oil is good for long distance OCI's. I figure no oil is good unless you have a filer that can go the distance.

Fram claims that their Extended Guard will got 7k???

The Amsoil Ea filters go for 25K or 30K miles. Mobil 1 filters can go 15K I believe.

Most oil filters will last a lot longer than most people give them credit for. I'd run any filter, even a base Fram, for 10k w/o worrying about it...some man. even say to change the filter 'every other' oil change, and they don't specify a special filter...

I agree. Any filter that meets OEM spec's should be able to do the every other oil change deal if mileage is used for the OCI/FCI and that's the recommended filter change out.

The nitrile parts may fatigue, but then you're basically down to the level of filtering you desire for the duration of use.

I believe that the Mobil 1 filter states "Extended Performance" on the box. I assume they did that to coincide with their "Extended Performance" oils

It took a bit longer to go through the existing inventory of the old label (the oil was on the market well ahead of the filter) ..and for all I know all they changed was the label.

I'm glad to hear from you all that most if not all filters has the capacity to go the distance. Still though I won't go past 5K before changing the oil and filter in either my truck or car. Regardless of wether my filter has gone through it's life time or not I'll still change it out when my manual tells me so.

For my truck I like to use the OEM filter from Chrysler and my car 89' Camry from Toyota.

5K is a long shot away from "long mileage oil filter"

a supertech will get you 5K

Well, sure. It's more important to realize that 5k can be way too long for someone doing 1.2 mile trips. But for anyone who is using mileage (and is SUPPOSED to be using mileage), then any OEM spec'd filter (meets or exceeds) will make the distance.
