Long Life Red Long Life Orange Compatibility

Long Life Red is what my 2004 Sebring 2.7 Came with and the Chrysler Specification is MS 9769 According to the Factory Service Manual.

Long Life Orange in my Reference is GM Dex Cool which I used without realizing the Difference in color. However the Dexcool Container clearly stated on the Label that it conforms to the above Chrysler Spec MS9769 as above.

Question.......Is the Information on the Label Trustworthy?? Coolant selection is really becoming confusing.

Dexcool uses organic acid technology and the Red Chrysler coolant uses Hybrid Organic Acid Technology.Help help help

Chrysler LL Red( sometimes also referred to as orange) is G-05, a HOAT. While the the most common LL Orange is, as you stated, GM Dex Cool, an OAT.

Is the information on the label Trustworthy? Based on the information I've read here regarding and elsewhere, using Dex Cool in a vehicle spec'd for G-05, without saying they are wrong, I'd say it's a long stretch at best. If a car spec's for G-05, like many Ford and Chrysler products, that's what should be used, not mixed with or using GM Dex-Cool.

If this were my vehicle I'd not be comfortable using Dex Cool in place of or mixed with G-05. Which btw, is also available in full strength from Zerex or as Motorcraft Premium Gold, neither of which is afaik red/orange in color like the Chrysler G-05.

But, I agree coolant selection can be very confusing, and in this case a good example of why color is not a reliable way to judge coolant type.

Thanks. I guess what it really boils down to you can write anything you like on a Label without a requirement to account for it
