I'm not too picky about oil filters for my 03 Accord (239,000 mi.) OCI of 5000 mi. usually. The Fram PH7317 is used sometimes and available within 2 mi. of me at Home Depot $4.48, Lowes $3.98, Walmart $3.88, and Autozone $8.99. That's a big price spread.
Anyone else notice such a wide price range on identical brand/model number oil filters in their area?

HD, Lowes, and WM are within $.60 so I wouldn't even drive across the street to save that. The parts stores prices are always higher than others, but their specials and rebates sometimes make them a better deal.

However I usually just buy 3 or 4 ACDelco PF2057 for my Honda when Amazon has them on sale. At $2.99 and free shipping, I haven't found a better deal!

When it comes to auto parts, if Walmart sells it, don't bother comparing to anyone else. I'm not sure any other store comes close to them, be it oil, oil filters, wiper blades, batteries, etc.

As for Autozone's price, I don't think they even try and be competitive with Fram filters. I think they sell them because they're so popular but their focus is their STP filters. Doesn't AAP have a special deal/relationship with Fram now too, selling their oilNow Autozone did seem to be one of the first stores that carries more and more OEM oil filters. They have Honda, Hyundai, Toyota, etc ... but no Nissan (I have an Infiniti so I'd probably buy them if they had 'em).

Sometimes other stores do get kind of close to Walmart in terms of pricing. HD $4.48 is not all that much more than Walmart. 60 cents is ok enough that I'd rather go to Home Depot due to not having to deal with a crud ton of humanity at Walmart. Home Depot has Quaker State high mileage for $14.98 on sale and it's only a 44 cent difference from Walmart.

I can get Cam2 Superpromax for $1.99 a quart in 12 qt case from Napa. Cam2 Dexos full synthetic oil is $3.49 case of 6.

Federated Auto parts has 2 year warranty battery for $89. I have a 524fmf East Penn battery from Federated Auto parts from that price. Roughly $45 per warranty year is not too bad. Cheaper than Walmart 1 year free replacement warranty for the valuepower now at $54 for one year. Nothing wrong with the $54 Valuepower battery deal at Walmart. Especially if it's a East Penn battery. Those have been very good batteries and prove that many people are just paying extra for the warranty period.

Agri Supply has East Penn group 24f aka 524fmf battery for $69. 18 month warranty on that. Agri Supply located in VA, NC and SC and GA.

Even AAP has deals on Mobil 1 Extended Performance with a very good filter like the titanium for $35.99. That price is cheaper than Walmart if that oil is $28 plus a $11 Fram Ultra.

Not really, b/c I buy at the lowest easiest price in bulk. Hate to say it but I buy mine mostly thru Amazon or Walmart. If you have other parts, look at Rock Auto or, in my case, directly thru Toyota. I also buy in bulk, knowing I will use them over the next 5-10 years.

My filters, usually in bulk, run $3.50 - $4 for Motorcraft, $4 for Denso directly thru Toyota, or $5-10 for Mobil 1. Rockauto has good prices but you have to pay shipping so it only makes sense if you're buying a lot of parts.

I have 7 vehicles, and many many years worth of oil and filters. Now, I only buy more if I see some clearance, free, rebate, or ultra low price. I have 80+ filters and 120+ quarts of oil in my garage right now.

Nothing wrong at all with buying in bulk. That is definitely true indeed.

And those Toyota filter deals sound really good.

I ain't worried about 60 cents difference...

Or 50 cents difference.

Close enough. To stay away from Walmart.

Or even AAP being cheaper than Walmart... Does happen at times with AAP sale on Mobil 1 Extended Performance.

Or battery being the same or even cheaper per warranty year.

In bulk aka by the case from Napa with Cam2 is cheap.

I always get oil at Walmart. I’ll get the Motorcraft or Toyota and Mobil 1 filters there too. Since I’m not allowed to use Fram anymore I have to go to the parts store to get something else for any of our other vehicles. I’d never buy oil or one of the filters I listed from the parts store way too much money for me. Now my friend who believes Walmart sells knock off oil and filters pays that high price at the parts store because he feels he is getting the real thing then tells me my cars won’t last much longer putting the fake stuff in mine. I never will get him to understand.

No doubt that those prices at very good there at Wally. No doubt.

And yes.. the regular prices at the parts stores is astronomically high.

There are times where the parts stores routine sales though are actually in the ballpark with Walmart. Even $33.99 for say Valvoline full synthetic and a Fram Titanium from AAP is not all too far off Walmart. If the oil is on sale at Walmart for $21.97 and the Fram Ultra is $10 then yeah that is cheaper. If not on roll back and the Valvoline is $24.97 and Fram Ultra is $10... Then AAP is actually $1 cheaper.

People believe anything these days. Don't ever tell your buddy the Earth isn't flat or that man landing on the moon multiple times wasn't faked. 😄

Had to chuckle a bit. Way back in my younger days, West Texas store (Gibson's) carried Champion spark plugs in
blister packaging. Some of the local red necks insisted that they were "seconds" and not as good as the individually
boxed plugs.

I'm with you on dealing with the Walmart crowd. The only place around here I have ever seen Cam2 oil is a couple of mom and pop gas station/stores. It says syn. blend on label and is in a red bottle. It is usually priced at $2.75 or so per qt.

I only recent found out HD carries Fram EG for around the same price as Walmart. This is great to know in a pinch. Walmart is a zoo around here sometimes, nothing in stock and the store is small as it is - unless you go at off hours during the week when they're restocked. I also talked to the o'reilys near that walmart and they said they would PM them, but they only carry Wix and walmart does not. Unless I'm going shopping at walmart already, I'd rather go anywhere else for car supplies.

I got an order this week peanut butter, jam, bandages, and other things from Walmart. Over $35 and it came in a box to my door no shipping charge. I don’t know how they do it but stepping on Amazon’s toes a little is fine with me. Target does it too, many do. No need to go into the herds.

Just curious... why not?
Dad seen some videos on YouTube about them rusting on the inside. I told him everything on YouTube isn’t necessarily reputable or true and then he insisted it was true because multiple people posted videos about it. So he won’t let me buy Fram for any of our cars. I typically don’t pay for the oil and filters so I let him get what he wants.

With just two corporations making most of the filters now it’s likely that one you buy is made by the same company that makes the one you hate or will not use.

Perception meets reality.

What's Scotty say? 😂 What brand(s) does your Dad use?
