With extinguishers size does matter, and multiple ones. Especially if you live rural and not in town with a paid FD.
While on the topic, the first part of the cost increase of house insurance is the increase in price that is linear with the replacement cost, then there are the increases due to the perceived increases in claims due to environmental issues such as forest fires, flooding etc, then any new risks such as lithium batteries, drone collisions, or anything else the companies come up with.I fixed my post the Lithium battery is not reason. Wind and hail are 41 percent of the claims. Water damage and freezing are 21 percent. I would venture to say Lithium batteries are not the reason your claims are going up.
Because it did. The scooter exploded. Why does the garage door look like it suffered from an explosion shock wave?
Because people ride them hard, which heats up the battery. Then they plug it in to recharge after the ride (instead of letting the battery cool off first). Why is it that small battery powered scooters, etc have a propensity to catch fire?
I think his battery just had it. It had not been ridden in quit some time.Because people ride them hard, which heats up the battery. Then they plug it in to recharge after the ride (instead of letting the battery cool off first).
NMC lithium has 2-3x the cycle life and 2-3x the energy density of NIMH. Nobody would want an EV with NIMH batteries! No I don't wish bad stuff on anyone. But I'm glad this happened somewhat, and it wasn't too bad destruction wise. To wake everyone up to the dangers.
I can't stand Li battery's. I just hope this incident wakes some people up here on this site about the dangers of these stinking batterys that are in almost everything. Never charge any Li batter inside a building you care about. And same goes for storage.
Watch StacheD training on youtube and learn about all the destruction they have caused.
I know someone that was burned on leg from a phone in the pocket. Doesn't matter the country of origin or brand they are like a mouse trap ready to snap.
EV's and Hybrids should all have Nmh battery's not Li. All the older Toyota's always used Nmh. Who knows now.
I would, or lead acid.NMC lithium has 2-3x the cycle life and 2-3x the energy density of NIMH. Nobody would want an EV with NIMH batteries!
Saying lead acid and NiMH simply are too heavyI would, or lead acid.![]()
2008 Toyota Camery hybrids have them NMH. So what are you saying?
Better than having your garage burn down.Saying lead acid and NiMH simply are too heavy
NiMH worked well enough for the first several generations of Toyota hybrids. Most never needed a battery replacement for the life of the vehicle.Saying lead acid and NiMH simply are too heavy
Fear way overblownBetter than having your garage burn down.![]()
Just check out StacheD on youtube about your precious Lithium Ion batterys, or any other Lithium based batterys.![]()
It lasted and that’s good but too heavy and memory effects with NiMH that does surprise meNiMH worked well enough for the first several generations of Toyota hybrids. Most never needed a battery replacement for the life of the vehicle.

That's true, but the context we were discussing was hybrids, not plugins.OK, but those are hybrids… sure they charge and discharge at higher C rates but only for short periods of time. And the capacity is tiny as it only needs to move the vehicle a short distance. That’s not scalable to a full EV that needs to go hundreds of miles just on the battery or needs to be able to charge from 10-80% in 30 minutes thousands of times.
You forgot another first part; advertising. Anytime you see Flo, Jake, the Gecko, or Limu, guess who is paying for that? While on the topic, the first part of the cost increase of house insurance is the increase in price that is linear with the replacement cost, then there are the increases due to the perceived increases in claims due to environmental issues such as forest fires, flooding etc, then any new risks such as lithium batteries, drone collisions, or anything else the companies come up with.
I'd like to unsee Flo. But Mayhem is great. He was good in Rescue Me as Leary's cop brother. You forgot another first part; advertising. Anytime you see Flo, Jake, the Gecko, or Limu, guess who is paying for that?
