Lithium ion batteries catching fire

I think the eBike like to catch on fire because of the way they are often used. Ridden enough to get the battery hot, then when you get home, you immediately put it on a charger. A more sensible thermal management routine would be to not put the bike on a charger for several hours after riding.

Combine that was sketchy 3rd world battery knock offs and scary betwixt the legs.

"Firefighters were able to cut through the security gate behind the front door and extinguish the fire.

Pablo told 7News he was walking behind the bike shop and heard a loud explosion."

Money quote

"Pablo said the explosion happened 30 minutes after the bike shop had closed for the day. He believes the explosion might have come from the bike batteries inside of the shop."

That guy again!

Pablo is Florida Man!!! Mind blown, but that explains sooo much.

Yeah we all have seen it and been warned. Maybe will never happen and maybe it will. Being warned and sweeping it under the rug !
Just like being warned not to eat some poison plant in your yard, are you going to do it? :ROFLMAO:
Seems to be a fairly common occurrence. A house in the neighborhood burned down on new years day this year and that's what they blamed it on.

Info from fire rebuild contractor.

A man stepped off into pool with 50 ish volt blower. He took battery off & just laid on shelf in storage room.

Few days later explosion. Blew out 6’ metal garage door. If someone had been other side closed door they would be full of shrapnel.
Also move bottom of wall by door 18”
& fire damage.
