1966 Chevy Nova 4 door, 194cid/Powerglide.

It was a check the gas and fill the oil kinda car. I could have earned extra cash as the "Vector Control" vehicle for the county!

1978 Ford Fairmont station wagon...200ci six with a 4-speed MANUAL transmission.

First truck was a gray-primered 1983 Jeep J-20 4x4...AMC 360 2bbl, 4-speed manual, NP208 T-case, 8-lug wheels, front Dana 44, Rear Dana 60, and a Western plow. Toughest truck I ever saw! It's still going.

Learned how to drive in my parents 63 Bug. First car I bought was a 55 Ford Fairlane V8 with Automatic for $100.00. First truck was a 1983 Nissan/Datsun truck bought new.

This would be my perfect work car. Simple enough to work on and large and economical enough to carry my stuff for work.

Mom had a 78 Zephyr wagon with that engine and automatic. The engine was dead reliable. The transmission, not so much.

I picked up a '79 two-door in '94 or '95 for $100 with the same 200/auto and drove it for three years, selling it for $500.

Few examples today that are not mostly rust.

Papaw gave me his '67 Beetle, which he purchased in 1970, for my 16th birthday. It is still my primary transportation in warmer months. When I blew out my left knee and couldn't drive a manual for a while, I got a 90-something Escort that was a nightmare. That thing was downright dangerous, so my Grandmother cosigned with me on a used, '98 S-10. It would have been a great vehicle if not for the trans. It constantly shifted between third and fourth - unless you were going up a hill, then it would hold fourth until it stalled. After a while, it also began slipping like a mofo, all the time. I decided I'd had my fill of used cars and purchased my Ion with 12 miles on the clock in '04 and have been perfectly happy ever since.

1986 Mustang LX with the 2.3L and a 4 speed stick. Bought it in 1992 with 58k. Junked it in 2005 with 175k or so as the car would no longer pass emissions and it was not worth putting any $$ into it as it was a 3rd car.
