Does anyone have an accurate list of all vehicle models that REQUIRE a viscosity of 5w20? I know most models that suggest using 5w20 also allow the use of 5w30, but I'm looking for the models that require 5w20 only.Thanks.

My 08 Jeep requires 5W20 and no other choices are given. The same goes for many late model Fords IIRC.

Why???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

It's simple: look in the owner's manual, or look at the oil fill cap. If the writing is worn off, search online. Certainly somebody with that vehicle has posted what oil grade it should take. As a last resort, contact the manufacturer. They made the thing, they "should" know what it takes.

Pretty much every non-high-performance Honda since the early 2000's spec's 5w-20. Some of the 2011's spec 0w-20.

I hope this doesn't turn into a thick vs thin war, or a 20 grade oil bashing thread.

Is there ever a reason to vary from manufacturer's spec?

i.e. an early 2000's Honda that now has close to 150k miles?

Would you migrate to 5W30 or 10W30?
