I use Mobil Super HM 5w-30 in my Mother's 00 3.8L Windstar which was consuming around 2.5 qts over 3k with whatever her mechanic would use. The Mobil Super HM has dropped that to .5 qts on a 3k oci , so ive been impressed with this oil. Her minivan also runs very smoothly on this oil as well.

Now I'm all confused. Pennzoil fans told me that the Pennzoil High-Mileage Oils are semi-synthetic. Because of this, I bought 2 gallons. Just great.

You missed MaxLife NextGen.

But if you're going to do it, do it right. The product names aren't even included in the "list" above, nor are the available grades. I am not going to list all of them, but here's a few and my suggestion for how to list them:

FULL SYNTHETIC

Valvoline MaxLife Full Synthetic (5W-30, 10W-30)

Mobil 1 High Mileage (5W-30, 10W-30, 10W-40)

SYNTHETIC BLEND

Valvoline MaxLife (that is the correct name) (5W-20, 5W-30, 10W-30, 10W-40, 20W-50, SAE 30)

CONVENTIONAL

Valvoline MaxLife NextGen (5W-20, 5W-30, 10W-30, 10W-40)

Pennzoil High Mileage Vehicle (5W-30, others?)

Havoline High Mileage (5W-30, others?)

Ok.... on the other thread, people were telling me that Valvoline Maxlife NextGen and Pennzoil High Mileage oils are semi-synthetics. I bought gallons of both oils thinking that they were both semi-synthetic.

I'm very upset now.

MaxLife NextGen is a blend. Look at its PDS:

Quote:

NextGen MaxLife™ is a blend of premium conventional, synthetic and recycled basestocks with a seal
conditioning agent, extra cleaning agents, additional antiwear additives, friction modifiers and Valvoline’s
environmental award winning additive technology.

If you're going to do it, do it right.

How about going to manufacturer websites directly to verify information rather than relying on what someone told you on an internet forum?

Maxlife NextGen is a blend. Pennzoil HM is not, but I'm sure it's still a fine oil. How often were you planning on changing it?

Thank you.

I'm planning on changing every 7,500 miles. Maxlife Nexgen for oil change, Clearance Pennzoil High-Mileage SM for top-off.
