By no means cheap gear oil, but a very low price for Liqui-Moly.

To think people squeek at ~$2000 for a drum of SynGear XDM. That's only about $10 a liter
Amazon is at $23.31 per container. At $14.99, it makes sense. I have three F350's that I will use this to do front differential fluid changes.

On a side note, sales taxes add up also. This price also saves an additional $8 in sales tax- not huge, but part of the equation.

I use the Syn Gear, I upend the drums at work and save the cup or three that drips out. 🤣 Probably have gotten 10-15 gallons that way in the last year. Some weeks I'll empty 10-12 drums.

Do they require GL4 or GL5?

Spec sheet shows this as GL4, although the bottle does state GL5.

Guess I have some homework to do. I was only checking for 75w-90, not checking GL4 or GL5 spec.

A hasty check shows GL5 for the 2015 F350 front differential fluid. Front of the bottle states Ford approval, but not sure this is the required approval.

From what I can tell, the LM lube is primarily for manual transmissions and not hypoid differentials. The Ford spec shown on the LM bottle is for some older manual gearboxes.

LM used to make a gear oil for hypoid applications. This is GL4+ which is likely for yellow metal transmissions.

Delvac 1 synthetic 75w90 GL5 is $40/gallon.

Best I can tell, this "GL4+" is a euro thing mainly for VW/Audi gear boxes that have integrated differentials with some hypoid gearing. Basically it exceeds the spec for GL-4 and offers "some" GL-5 properties while maintaining yellow metal compatibility but will not meet the full GL-5 specs.

Not something I would sling in an application calling for a straight up GL-5 spec gear oil.

I was considering this for my upcoming diff change, but being the spec sheet/description conflicted with the GL-5 on the bottle, I decided to avoid. Very odd from this company indeed. I could see someone using this in a diff if they were not paying close attention.

Yes and some Saabs....

$13.99 at FCP Euro but need to buy more than $49 to get free shipping.

I would love some $5/qt gear oil to keep our truck's axles happy for the next several years. As promisqious as I am with fluids, I can't quite get my mind around the GL4+ spec, given that LM also makes GL5 product.

Down to $107. Someone buy it so I don't have to!
Its fine for a manual transmission that requires the 75W-90 viscosity. You don't want to use that stuff in a differential that needs GL5 gear oil.
