Life at Twitter pre Musk? Could this be accurate?

Why would you have a problem with an individual expressing his/her opinion? Is it because you don’t agree with it?

That the very first thing all tyrannical governments did, silence the opposing voices.

I don't mean to silence free speech, but when someone as wealthy and known as Musk makes opinion statements about international borders that PROVOKE the parties affected and not himself, he should be more mindful of the impact of his mouth.

Who are you, or anyone else to have issues over his speech? You are free to espouse your commentary on this forum much in the same way Musk can. Why are you advocating for his speech to be shut down? That is exactly what you are saying, by proxy of the people surrounding him. Like him or not he is a grown man who I would venture is far more successful in life than you. Just sayin...

Maybe I don't have as many millions as Elon, but to compare my posts on a motor oil forum to what comes out of Elon's mouth is laughable.

I think (as my personal view) when you are so wealthy and popular, it is important to remember people study what you say and do. For good or bad, the extreme rich don't live without obligations. Musk is smart enough, but there are many Mensa members who also can't fit into society, does this mean he's allowed to weigh in on anything because he's so rich? if he was trained in international relations and political history his views might be more tolerable to me.

I really doubt this message will be viewed outside of BITOG, but if I'm wrong, I'll adapt to the new reality and consider my audience scope going forward.

The man has free will; he is not a king's subject and just might not share the arbitrary amount of societal weight on his shoulders you have determined appropriate.

I have respect for Elon, but he's really testing my patience of late. That he overpaid 34 Billion for Twitter is confirmed, and he's about to destroy the thing to loose his total investment?

That he can spout off on Ukraine's borders, Tiawan's sovereigty and other things that most people might consider in their heads but not say out loud points to his being on the spectrum and more damaging, his being surrounded by people who don't tell him to shut the F up.

Well, high-profile Twitter users including "journalists" were spouting off their opinions on such topics all the time before Musk bought it. The main difference then was if you disagreed with them Twitter would censor or outright ban you.

Facebook, Paypal, etc, still operate that way. Plenty of people are banned from Paypal, and from credit card companies and banks, for having an opinion those companies don't like. Some people say, "Those are private companies that can do whatever they want. If you don't like it, just make your own bank."

Hopefully Musk will buy everything so people will be allowed to have opinions.

4chan also lets anyone write anything, but it's a bit player in social media.

Musk has been able to market a few decent ideas, and to be ahead of the curve in adoption. Paypal is a stupidly simple idea but it was the first of its kind to take off. Now we have Zelle which is arguably better but Paypal is the "kleenex" of online person-to-person payments.

Electric cars? Quirky but popular with some crowds. Twitter? Plenty of websites out there, I don't have to read Twitter.

Only thing that bugs me is him running an ISP, and having temper tantrums over some of its users. ISPs should be dead nuts reliable and able to access the entire internet.

There are some certain job families which have a structure similar to what you described. However, once you get past a certain point, going to the next grade requires applying to a new role - and that comes with an expectation that you have been working on development plans towards that role...often for years.

A company needs to be designed around this model. Do they want their employees to advance through their organization and enjoy a mutually beneficial relationship? Or is it a one way relationship? Fortunately for me, I worked for a company that rewarded achievement with advancement.

Whether you mean it or not is irrelevant. It always starts small, innocent and for a "good cause", but history has shown us over and over where it ends.
And, if like you suggest, the parties affected can somehow be provoked by one billionaire's post on twitter, then what does that tell you about the whole thing? To me, it looks like the "parties" are simply looking for an excuse to keep the conflict going, rather than end it peacefully. We all know hom much money US alone has sank into this ordeal. Why would they stop when so much money flows in every single day?

The amenities resemble where I work at albeit remotely. $20 food truck lunch every Wednesday was free this past summer to encourage folks to return to office. Our company still struggles to keep tech help.
