Does anyone know what oil I should be using on an '06 Lexus RX400h? I just bought the vehicle and it has a little over 230k miles. It was changed last with Toyota 5w30, and has burned half a quart in 3000 miles. I was reading that in late '06 Lexus switched to using 5w20 in this motor. From looking at the previous owners service records it has always been to a toyota dealer for servicing, and it looks like they have been using 5w30. Should I stick with the 5w30 since the vehicle has such high mileage? Thanks for nay help.

Since you have the same motor as mine, I would suggest staying with the 5w30. I tried the 5W-20 for a while and the motor was not as smooth, and I could smell oil from the exhaust when I started in the morning. Your oil cap should say 5w30 as well.

Stick with the 5W30. My experience, no visible mileage improvements and my corolla actually used oil on the 0w20. 1/2 quart every 3k miles is nothing. If you want maybe consider trying a high mileage 5w30 synthetic oil (M1 HM) and see if it reduces the use/burning.

+1.

That's just darn good oil, and if consumption stays the same, I'd stick with it.
