Im considering installing a leveling kit on my 2wd 2012 F150. I have no interest in lifting it, I just want to level out the front and put some good AT tires, as I do use the truck off road and for hunting. What do you recommend? Leveling spacers, or leveling shocks such as Bilsteins? I dont mind paying $$$ for the proper setup, as I read some leveling kits put extra stress on the ball joints.

I’ve done both, spacers and 5100s. They essentially do the same thing. The ground clearance makes a difference off road, even in a 2WD (which is what I had).

I did this on a jeep wk and a 2WD tundra, which I towed with. For me I won’t do it again - because with a load it sagged, the headlights pointed up, and just felt wrong at the wheel and when braking.

You might consider doing a “half level,” which the 5100s give you more flexibility with. Go halfway and preserve some load carrying balance.

Aren't spacers going to be quite a bit cheaper than new Bilsteins? A leveling kit on Amazon can be had for $50.
Yes, but if OP still has the factory shocks, they probably need new ones anyway.

FWIW Ford does not have an approved leveling block kit. The kits from Ford are 4 new shocks. Also lots of issues on the newer ones with front cameras having issues with some systems because the level or lift brings them out of the factory adjustment range.

Have you looked at air suspension? It'll give you more ground clearance and smooth out the ride. With it being used off-road have you considered an lsd or rear locker for the diff?

So a Bilstein 5100 has a spring that can be adjusted for ride height?
No you reuse the factory spring. There are manufactured grooves that the black collar attaches too. The higher the groove, the more lift you get.
