santa barbara is just down the road from me. they have a very good brewpub.

I have tried Pilsner Urquel and St. Pauli Girl beers, they both have a skunky smell when opened that is mentioned earlier in this thread but the St. Pauli Girl had a better taste, I still prefer Hofbrau, after trying Pilsner Urquel and St. Pauli Girl, I appreciate Duvel (pronounced Doov'l) much more

Rewarding myself: Paulaner Hefeweizen (helles).

Day-to-day consumption: Warsteiner Pils or Parkbrau Export.

Slummin': Rolling Rock.

BTW: For Trader Joe's fans, you can only buy beer at Joe's locations in states that allow beer/wine/spirits sales in grocery stores. I used to drive from Frederick, MD to Reston, VA just to get good quality wines and beers on the cheap.

Both you tasted were lightstruck (UV radation reacts with the hops in the beer and creats a mercaptin compound that smells like skunk). Fresh versions are very very good.

Today's Ale: Schneider Aventinus "Cave Aged"
6.1 ABV
This is a dark German Wheat Double Bock cave aged. It has a clovey aroma, a mild taste of bubble gum, cloves, and figgs. Best served chilled.

Boddington = good

Boddingtion's Pub Ale, they advertise as smooh and creamy, wow! very good tasting Ale!

Their can a has a widget that releases bubbles in their beer (cans), when poured into a glass bubbles were very tiny, lots of bubbles, taste is very smooth. I found a couple places around here that sell beer in single bottles or cans such Boddington's, I will be buying Boddington's again!

I do not like Stouts, argh.....glad I could try them in single bottles.....

Today's Ale: "Trappist" Westmalle Tripel 9.5 ABV.
This is a heavenly brew strong, golden, Brussels lace clings to the glass. Medium to full body, taste of fresh bread. Quote "This brew first debuted in 1934 but it appears that experiments beganin 1931 . Brother Thomas refined the recipe in the 1950's when he added more hops and has remained the same since."

Today's Ale :St Bernardus Tripel
Style: Abbey Ale
ABV 7.5%
Amber Gold in color, Soft on the palate, hoppy, with a slight citrus aroma.

I just popped the top of bottle #0679, N'ICE Chouffe ale bottled in 1996 at Brasserie D' Achouffe in Belgium. It is 10% ABV, has a ruby red color, small thin head that dissapates quickly. This is a sipper at such high strength but N'ICE for a cold night.

I just bought some 84 cent swill from Trader Joe's that wasn't too bad: Winterfest Dark Double Bock Lager. Dark and malty are the best attributes. A ratty aftertaste lingers. But that's why I got this Fiat-sized piece of gouda!

Coopers' Sparkling Ale in the glass, and I'm having a fifth (and final...again) attempt at making my own beer in my own home.

Gang, Merry Chrismas and Happy New Year!

I received a 12 btl. case of Leinenkuegel Beer as a gift, this last week, it has 4 varieties. DELICIOUS!

I have never tasted this beer before, I LIKE IT!

I LOVE Bells Beer! I appreciate beer in the same way a wine lover appreciates wine. I don't associate beer like many people do in all of it tasting like **** or tasting bad or the same. Blah blah blah!

Ah! And this is the perfect time to use this smiley!

I agree with you Sid,
Bell's is good stuff!

Do you have a favorite Bell's?

Mine is the Two Hearted Ale,
I like the Pale Ale and Amber Ale to,
I have tried a few of the other Bell's but I do not care for Stouts, Porters or Wheat type of beers, I am more of a Helles and Dortmunder drinker,
also, I no longer drink from the can or bottle,
always drink beer from a glass

I've been 1 month in Brasil. My favourite beer so far are: Brahma (normal and chopp), Bohemia and Itaipava. Beer here has much less flavor than beer (pilsner) produced in Europe but alcohol % is more or less equal (4.5% to 5%). Will report back later as I'm staying here another 2 months...
