I gave my brother a lawnboy 2 cycle mower that i bought 10 years ago. Ran lawnboy or penz 2 cycle oil in it till i discovered silver streak(oregon) oil. Anyway his wife used it one day and she filled it with, yup you guessed it, straight gas. Engine ran till it locked up tight. I found out about this a few days ago and bro said he could not break it free. I told him to put some oil in the cylinder put a metal rod to it and tap it free with a hammer. It worked and he says it runs good and still has power. I told him to bring it over and i could check it out and see if i can rebuild it but he says na it still works. So we are going to see how much longer this thing runs. Ya never know, if the cyl wasnt scored to bad and the needle bearings are still in good shape this thing might go for another few years. What do you think?

Give it a little extra oil and run it 'till she blows. It could run another 5 years or 5 minutes.
I did something similar at the end of last season with my 150hp outboard.
Whoops...at least I'll never forget again. We ran it for like 10 minutes at 6000 RPMs before it seized up, and then being stuck in the middle of the lake I did everything I could to get it going again. I put about double the usuall oil, primed the hell out of it and it actually started! It ran slow for a few minutes but then was back to normal! However, a few hours later we ran out of gas, I went to switch tanks and it never started again.
**** it's hard to paddle my boat...
exact same thing happened to my dad's lawnboy. hired someone to mow the lawn, they didn't see the giant sticker or the gas cap that says the mixture ratio and siezed the engine. he got the engine to free up and it ran for a couple more years with low power. too bad, that was a great mower!
The last time I rebuilt one I got all the parts for well under 50 bux. The parts I got were: new rings, seals, main bearings, reed valve, connecting rod needles bearings. I rebuilt the carb while I was at it. Don't forget to hone the cylinder. I used aviation gasket maker to seal the case halves, but I don't think this is really necessary. These engines are easy and straightforward to work on.
