LATAM hard landing ATL

There are several potential causes, but the overhead bins opening and a lavatory door coming off the hinges during landing, suggests a hard landing.

I love the accuracy and detail of reporting on aviation, for example, this gem, in which a passenger was quoted as saying that the Internet didn’t work and he wasn’t served any alcohol.

Well, clearly, safety is of equal concern with the availability of Internet in Flight…

Our A321Neo absolutely pounded the runway in CAI …
It shook and howled after like something got damaged …
There was a young teenager on the flight deck - bet his happy trip ended right then 😵‍💫

Well, priorities!

I am going to wait until the report is out before speculating😉

Western/North Airlines don’t fire pilots for making mistakes ( they will fail you if make certain mistakes during evaluations to maintain your licence in the simulator ) unless it’s deliberate ( not following procedures in some cases ) or gross negligence. Foreign airlines often have a different policy.

Extra training in the simulator but I have never heard of a pilot getting fired in Canada when they damage the landing gear due to an official hard landing.

Just don’t try and cover it up or you might get fired ( pilots are required to report even suspected hard landings to maintenance ).

That will be an interesting accident report when it comes up.
