Last month i read that Vince was fired again from Motley Crue....something about drinking himself to near death etc....

I saw them last in 2015 and it was a sad sight to watch. He should retire or work on trying to get back into better shape.

Don't forget when bands like Van Halen (to Sammy not Cherone), AC DC and Sabbath swapped lead singers the bands were in their prime.
Love Motley Crue but you hit it on the head, his voice has been gone for decades. Shame because it was spectacular. Not sure what he did to it, everybody loses some range of course but there are plenty of older guys who can still sing pretty well.

I think the difference there is that Sammy actually recorded albums with Van Halen and wasn't brought in after the fact. I saw some video of Vince singing a while ago and it was bad. He couldn't hit the notes and seemed to lose his place. Then he just held out the mic like he wanted the crowd to sing.
I also read that Motley Crue sold off its music catalog to someone and the final price was contingent on them finishing out their final tour. My guess if the final tour doesn't happen their value tanks pretty bad.
Crue is trying to rehearse and get ready for this tour coming up.

Vince fell off a stage during a solo show last year somewhere. He broke some ribs but those may have healed by now. He also walked off a stage last year because his voice failed.

Even when he "could sing" he was not very good live. He forgot/left out some lyrics when playing live. The years/drugs/drink/hard lifestyle have not been good for his voice. I don't know about the rest of the band. Mick Mars has some kind of debilitating bone disease, last I heard of him he can barely walk without pain, yet he is working on a solo record that is supposed to be released before the end of the year.

I don't watch the newer videos of these bands like Crue, Def Lep, Scorpions, etc anymore. It is just too sad to see them all losing it. I wish they would just stop and retire. I am a huge fan of 70's and 80's hard rock but I do not care for Rockers With Walkers. Even my favorite band of all time, Rush, take a listen to their last live album R40. Ged's voice sounded terrible. There were some great bands and prolific musicians but they are all getting older and just really should stop. The sad thing is there are very very few players and singers out there now that can take the old ones' places.
I hope the tour goes well for Crue, Def Lep and the others. I will not go see it. I have not been to a concert since 1995 and even so I don't like outdoor concerts. Luckily I have the albums and can listen to the real thing and real talent any time I want.

Yes G.L. sounded like someboy was pressing on some hamster balls in the later years......my biggest beef with Rush was G.L. singing or lack of it....they were a great band but his singing to me was sub par.....

It all depends on how you take care of yourself. Roger Daltrey is still going strong with a few more years than Sammy Hagar and despite a couple of vocal cord surgeries many years ago.

Still love the album Too Fast For Love. This album totally blew my mind first time I listened to it back 40 years ago.
There's a few guys out there that can still do it-70+ year old Klaus Meine of the Scorpions, and 70 y/o Rob Halford of Judas Priest, too. It's all in how you take of yourself, not everyone needs to be Vince Neal or Don Dokken, both of them need to shut it down, very depressing...
I'm a big fan of that era of music, and specificually Crue. I'd never say Neal is a great singer, but he was exactly what Crue required. I've seen then in concert but well-past their prime about 10 years ago. Neal was okay, but had lost many steps. I thought Crue did their "last show" about 5 years ago?? Apparently that's one of the big common scams to jump ticket sales that so many entertainers do. About the same deplorable level as click-bait.
It is painful to watch our legends get old and feeble. In most cases I think they really need to hang it up and ride off into the sunset and let us keep our great memories.
In Crue's case, they've all led extraordinary hard lives - no surprise, hard drugs, booze, nights, tours, women, serious legal problems (Neal killed a friend in a DUI accident in which he was at fault and was convicted!). Sixx has died and been revived. Lee had massive legal / women issues. As great as they were they really needed to retire 5 years ago. Mars has serious medical problems.
On the other hand, people who seem to take great care of themselves like Kiss singers Stanley and Simmons seem like they are timeless. Paul Stanly is 70!!! Gene Simmons is 72!!!! I've seen them many times, and the last time I saw them was about 8 years ago making them around 62-64+ years old, and you'd think they were in their 20s... They seemed to stop the hard party lifestyle, focus on health and fitness, and up until a few years ago were still touring to my knowledge.

It was one of my first cassettes and I still have it! Somehow I learned there was a "rare" copy in a store in a neighboring town, and begged my mother to buy it for me! It was even hard to get then, in the 1980s. I love that album, and pretty much most of their stuff with Neal as singer. The best being probably SATD, TFFL, and TOP albums. Then GGG and Dr. Feelgood. New Tattoo is surprisingly good.I agree.

Wild Side remains one of my favorite fun videos I'll play, especially when introducing folks who never listened to Crue.
When was a kid, maybe 12 or so, we were in the backyard playing hoops listening to Dr. Feelgood on the boom box (ha remember those?), some workers were at our house replacing the siding and one of them talked to my mom, "Ma'am, do you know what your boys are listening to?". She was pretty cool about it, never really gave us any grief about what we listened to.
Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden is another guy that can still do it. I never saw them back in the old days but for the last 15 years or so have gone to see them every time they come by, he's still great.
Alice in Chains' William Duvall and Jerry Cantrell still sound great too.

I saw M.C. just once, most likely late-8os timeframe. I was never a fan but a friend had tickets, so I went. They were awful.... They cut several songs short, and Vince forgot a lot of the lyrics. I assume they were drunk. I am skeptical they're any better now; probably much worse.
