Yep, this happened in an affluent northern suburb of Chicago.

I have driven said Gallardo and the guy was clearly running with stability management off.

After the accident, the car with the camera should have backed up to the Lambo and revved his engine a time or two......

Hilarious! Seen a kid in deerfield beach the other day revving the heck out of his new lambo, at every stop light he would just rev it to the red line over and over again. I was laughing at him, he also had the stereo at max volume playing techno.

Yeah it would seem he had the VSC off. Maybe the guy didn't even realize it was off...or knew what stability control was.

How angry would you be if you were that Grand Marquis or the CRV? Just minding their own business when Mr. Yellow Lambo decides to show off and slams into you stopped at a light.

This reminds me of when I was back home in Upstate NY and I was at a light with a new 911 Turbo. I was in HS at the time, so me and my buddy are drooling. Not noticing us, the guy apparently decides he is going to some hotrodding for his passenger in his new Turbo, and starts revving the motor up. So we are waiting for the "show" to start as the light turns green....annnnd the guy stalls......

Don't be so harsh. The guy's not stupid, he simply forgot that the driver has to operate the steering wheel. It could happen to anyone.

It also shows the problem with mid-engined cars: their moment of inertia is totally screwy compared to front-engine. The cars rotate oddly and very quickly, and it requires real skill to control at the limit.

If that is the limit in the video I am not impressed. If stability control was really off I cannot understand why anyone would do that riding around on streets.

I'm not sure he really cared that you were laughing at him. Ya know, since he was driving a Lamborghini and you... weren't.

Dad drove a six-cylinder/automatic Dodge van. No joy.

I think the kid was on drugs based off of the description of his behavior..

I am picturing you as Mr. Hand from Fast Times at Ridgemont High:

"What are you? On dope?"

I drive around with my stability control off all the time

The car doesn't make itself do stupid things. It requires input from your right foot. Stability control can curb the idiot behind the wheel's attempts to "put on a show" and get in over their head. Certainly. But that doesn't make them any less of an idiot for attempting to rely on the nanny to do that in the first place.
