Pretty sure (but not positive) they aren't sold regular retail yet, just restaurants for now. If you do find them in a store, please post it. My wife would be all over that. Last time we ate out she conned the waiter girl into selling a few frozen ones as an ala carte takeout order, but the waiter whispered she had to do it on the down low and technically werent allowed to do that.

You're right about that. I checked Impossible's web site and the only places around here that have them are burger joints. I guess that's one way to try it.

The grains that are fed to cattle aren't the same grains that is edible by humans, cause ya know corn husks are delicious. They didn't mention that, huh?

A lot of spent grains from breweries and distilleries get fed to cattle. Those grains have had their starches converted to sugars which are then converted by yeast to alcohol and CO2. I wonder how that works out, nutritionally, compared to a "normal" grain diet. They would still have a lot of their amino acids and fiber, but very little starch or sugar.

Lab-grown meat is the future. We're not going to be raising cows on the Moon or Mars any time soon.

Not true - they would naturally eat the 'grain' (seed) TOGETHER with the rest of the plant, and be as healthy as possible.
The PROBLEM is feeding with TO MUCH grain in their diet ('engineered' feeds, feedlots, finishing-off) in the pursuit of 'efficiency' .....

You know what I meant...they also ate pasture weeds bringing in vital nutrients as well.

There's a Wagyu farmer in Oz, whose cattle graze seaweed on one boundary...his beef has more Omega 3 than tuna...two weeks in a feedlot, and that would be wiped out.

I made it over to Liberty Burger today to try the Impossible Burger patty. The first red flag was that the $9 burger I ordered was $13 when made with the "impossible" patty. Honestly, it was a VERY good imitation of meat - texture, flavor, etc. If it uses less resources to produce than a beef patty it is promising. The price needs to come down and availability needs to improve. I'm glad I tried it, though.

That would be awesome if we had any WC around here. But, truthfully, is there enough meat in a WC burger to tell anything about the meat itself? What little is in there is masked by salt and onions. (I do love WC, don't get me wrong) That might be part of the point. With a lot of burgers it's all about MASKING the meat.

I'm glad you liked it, I know several people who have tried the impossible burger and most say it is very close to "real" meat. I'm pretty sensitive to texture and thought the texture was off, but it was good. I had mine off a food truck and it was at least as good as the average food truck burger.

I know a guy (girl actually) who knows a guy that is involved with the lab grown meat. I'm actually looking forward to giving it a try.

It takes a lot of volume to scale. I think in 20 years it will be cheaper than meat and very likely fast food will blend them into real meat for cost cutting. Taco Bell already blend oatmeal into their beef, so that's likely where it will start.

I'm a huge meat lover, so I just can't get on board with all these substitutes. Give me a real big NY strip loin steak, prime rib or a nice juicy burger and I'm as happy as a pig in slop. Veggies will never take their place for me, the only way I can even handle veggies is to mix it in something else (like a smoothie, or chili, or mixed up in mashed potatoes with gravy)
