KUBOTA GENERATOR HELP!!!

In 99' I purchased a brand new kubota generator and it has been sitting ever since, I drained the gas prior to storing and it still has the orig. factory oil which I want to change out. My question is the manual recommends a good 10w30 however I have five cases of chevron supreme 5w30 and don't want to buy any more unless I have to, would it be alright just to use the 5w30 in it??

If anone has any good tips for cleaning out the fuel system please let me know! I have a gallon of fp60 and lc20 and am not really sure if they can be used in a small engine.

Any feedback would be greatly appreacited!!

FP and LC will work fine in small engines. As for the oil, 5w30 will work. But, a heavier oil like 15w40 would be best for long use. Delo 400, Rotella, and Delvac 1300 would all do a fine job.

Chevron supreme 5w30 would be absolutely fine in that unit. If you were to run it continuously, you might want to s/d to check the oil level after say 12hrs to get a feel for if the unit uses the 5w30 in your application. A 15w40 HDEO would be a wise choise for long 24/7 runs. A shock treatment of FP should clean your fuel system. Be sure to run the fuel system dry for periods of non-useage.

It used to be that 5w30 was not as shear stable as 10w30 ... but the two seem a lot closer in the past couple of years.

You could easily use the 5w30 as is and simply change it more often than required by the manual.

Or, you could fortify it with 25% or so Chevron Delo400 in 15w40.

Lots of good fuel system cleaners out there: Red Line SI-1, Neutra, FP, etc ...
