odd recommendation in the manual... Says 5w30 will only work in freezing conditions and 10w30 will do basically all temps... while straight 30 will do in hot conditions. Whaddayajustsayaboutviscosity?????????

so the manual says "we don't know about oil at all, so use anything with the number "30" in it. And the pros here says to use something like 5w40 i.e. thicker when hot.

Using judgement assessing trustability here means: Use a thick 5w30 or,better, a 5w40/10w40.

Yeah they aren't very clear about the different viscosities you should use. Basically, it has a full pressure lube system and OHV, so really it should handl heavier oils just fine.

I'm thinking about going to 5w-40 so I can use it year round. I usually change the oil/filter in the late fall so temps range from 60-90f during that period of time. Synthetic 5w-40 seems to fit that bill.
