Kohler command 23 oil consumption

Check your valve seals. There was a period where kohler wasn't putting them on the exhaust valve. You can replace all four seals in about 2 hrs. I would do that first and see if that helps. I run 15w-40 diesel oil in all my mower engines. They run smooth and dont burn but maybe a half a quart between changes.

Thanks. If it acts up again, I'll check this. The HG was the culprit this time though - clear as day.

Those commands are some tough little engines. I built one once with chevy Sbc solid lifters, roller rockers. Fun little project
That's a cool project.

I'll have to take your word on the tough part. I wasn't impressed with the HG leak at a little under 700 hrs and being stored in a barn when not in use with all the ridiculous oil/transmission fluid/filter replacement's I've done on it. I am HOPEFUL this is the last issue for a long time.
