Went shopping after dinner tonight (not much for Halloween).

Walmart, 5qt jugs of Pennzoil High Mileage, $12.50
Kmart, single quart bottles of same, $4.49 each. 4qt jugs of other dino, $17.49.

How does Kmart sell *ANYTHING* automotive with prices so out of whack with their biggest competitor?

Or is "Dollar General" their biggest competitor?

And how do they stay in business when this place rarely ever has a customer in it, Halloween night or any other night??

I don't know how the Kmart close to my home has stayed in business for this long. It's normally like a ghost town in there.

It looks as empty as Sears.
But Sears I understand--they apparently hate customers and treat them accordingly.

I remember when I was a kid if the 'Blue Light Speical' was announced, people would literally run to the isle announced that had specials. I'm surprised to see they reopened some of the tire shop that sat vacant for many years.

We have one here in West Seneca.

What keeps it open is the convenience of the store being the only "box" type store in the town. The walmart is in an undesirable area of town. Sometimes I'll just go to the K to avoid the ghetto.

I would never buy oil there, way too much money.

Can you post the picture you took at Wal-Mart here so we can see it? And those K-Mart pictures are reminiscent of the one here.

Pix sent to peopleofwalmart. My wife was laughing at the lady, I met the dude and his friend (not pictured), both applying that b&w make up in the restroom...with q-tips.

Can't make this stuff up!

I am not sure what is funny about the first pic, maybe I am missing something?

But, I can see the second picture with the guy and his make-up masterpiece posted on peopleofwalmart.

I have not been to the local K-Mart for ages. Drove by it tongiht. It is in a strip mall where most of the buildings are empty. Sears is a little better, but the two stores close to me are anchor stores for dead malls. Sears has the heaviest volume of people. The malls are almost empty.

I too remember blue light specials. We never went to a Sears department stores as a child. We ordered clothes, etc. from the local mail order store. My mom's childhood house came pre-built from Sears. Shipped by train. It still there, 100 ft from the railway tracks.

Eh, it's not as bad as I have seen at other places....you can't be a winner in everything, I guess.

On the other hand, the K has some good prices on toddler clothes...so I sometimes go there.

Rumor is that Sears and K mart will be gone by next summer, along with quite a few other retailers if we have a really rough holiday shopping season.

Regardless, I'm rooting for K mart...otherwise, we'll just have even more Wal Marts around here. I still like to have choices....

That 40" Toshiba at $589 "door buster price" on page 3 of that ad, is only $10 less than the regular price at Costco. And Costco gives 2 year warranties with all TV's.

K MART does have the Purolator filters now at reasonable prices and you need to visit their weekly circular for oil prices. Last week it was 5 QTs of Castrol GTX for $13 but they don't always have the big jugs available so its back to the 5 liitle bottles. For the purist I guess its filters at KMART and oil at WALLY? The situation at my KMART is the same... tumbleweeds!!

Are their oil prices outrageous, or are they a joke?
Kmart has rarely had oil on sale in recent years, as well.
A little while back, they did have all flavors of M1 on special at $5.00/qt, including EP. You could combine that with the Mobil MIR on EP, and end up with a decent deal.
Considering the level at which Kmart prices its oil, it is no wonder that the oil section is almost a museum of old API specs and old label designs.

Sears is a horrible company that treats it's employees like trash. I honestly don't know how Kmart has survived this long. I'd pick Target any day over a SuperKmart-the BigK's are a joke-they normally only have 2 cash register clerks.
