My latest UOA.
Oil used up to about 135,000 was Valvoline white bottle.
From 135 to 150,000, I slowly transitioned to Valvoline high mileage 5w-30..
From 150 to about 165k, it was Valvoline high mileage.
Around 165,000 i transitioned to Costcos oil.

Im doing a little more highway nowadays.
I head to work at 420am, little traffic at that hour, and can stick to 55/60 mph for about 20 miles each way. The other 8 miles are streets.
Older UOA traffic was heavier at 7am in LA.

2-3qts of makeup oil in 5k miles? 😳😧

My GMC Acadia with the same engine is only burning 0.5qt in 5k miles at this point of its life (140,000 miles on the clock) and I hope it doesn’t get worse. 😬

I would definitely extend the oil change a couple thousand miles. You are adding a little oil and driving more highway. This is easy on the oil. Save yourself some time and money.

Yup. These were the intervals when i was driving about 5 miles in the morning, to the train station. Literally hit every red light. Stop and go...and try to get there asap, so as not to miss the train.... engine barely warmed up.
Afternoon i drove maybe 11 miles, street stop and go to pick up kids from school. Very little highway for this time period.

Nice!

We put 200K on our ‘12 GM 3.6 running nothing but Dealership Bulk and Valvoline Blend for 5K OCI’s. Got rid of it cause other things were starting to give us problems. But the engine was running tip top. Had minor work done around 180K and the mechanic said the valve train was spotless. Kind of wish I had asked for pics.

Great report. Kirkland Syn 5W-30 is great oil at a fantastic price. I've used it in Alaska over the winter with excellent results. Will continue to use it.

I'm also a Valvoline fan when rebates make it comparably priced. Though for now, the Kirkland branded oil is my go-to. Hopefully, Kirkland remains available as it seems to be a hit-and-miss at Costco over the last year.
