Car is a 2014 Honda Accord V6 manual transmission (no DI, no VCM). Car runs perfectly but I did add half a quart at about 3500 miles. Are these wear metals numbers mildly concerning or nothing?

Switched over to 5w30 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum at this change.

Everything looks good. Run the 5w-30 if you want to but this 0w-20 looks looks like it did great. 1/2 qt in 5k not bad either...is that typical of this car of yours? Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. My 1st UOA on this car, but my 2nd oil change on it It's very low mileage at 25K total but I'll be putting 12K or so per year on it going forward.

I'm not concerned with the wear metals. I assume you are referring to aluminum and chromium. Both are slightly higher than Universal Averages, but still low in an absolute sense.

The only wear metal that's mildly concerning is chromium. It usually only comes from the thin coatings on the top compression rings, and sometimes oil control rings, so 2 ppm is significant. The other wear metals look great.

What's the reason for the low miles? Most piston ring wear is from corrosive wear from short trips with a cold engine. Letting an engine sit for a long time might cause some corrosive wear over time as well, especially if it's shut down cold. If this is a 2-year OCI, this might be contributing to piston ring wear as well. At the rate you're putting miles on, the rings should never wear out anyway.

Bought it a bit over a year ago it was at 13,500 miles so I was concerned about how long it may have sat in its first 10 years of life. I'll be putting about 10-12K on it per year going forward. I'll do another UOA or two and keep an eye on the chromium I guess. Not sure how much could be done about it one way or another.
FWIW I'm in Hawaii so a tropical climate here.

If the cylinders were a bit corroded, it might take some time for the rings and liners to "break in" again. Hopefully you'll see the chromium trending down on your next UOAs.

Your oil consumption seems a bit high for a low mileage engine as well. It could be that some of rings are a bit stuck in their grooves. I'd do an italian tuneup with some engine braking from high revs. You could also try Valvoline R&P for the next oil change. These things might make not make any difference, but there's no harm in trying them.

Congrats on the AV6-6! I had an '04 that I bought new and it was a wonderful car. I, too, was looking for a super low mileage Honda/Acura before the small turbos and DI came to be put in all of their stuff; I bought a 2014 TSX with 25K miles at the time. Enjoy your vehicle and if you really want to go down the rabbit hole, look at HPL.
