I've ridden in coworkers' Bimmers. Underwhelming to say the least.

In fact, our VP Engineering just got rid of his 525i. Too needy.

But then again, I drive a Hyundai after being a GM fanboy for decades, I don't shop at Walmart, don't run Supertech oil or Fram filters, and I love my family too much to use RT43 tires. So I am not a BITG sheep.

So you went from bankrupt product to start up and know everything about BMW. But hey, you were passenger in one.

Panties still twisted I see.

BTW, I used to be a VW fanboy, but they suck now too.

At least I am smart enough too see others' experience with BMW to not make the same mistakes they did. Same goes for Mini

Well, it is clear that thinking for you is done by other people.

It is always refreshing to hear from a true automotive connoisseur. I can only desperately hope that someday I will know first hand the motoring excellence that you experience on a daily basis.

Show me where I said that.

I think it's quite obvious based on the fact I had to bring up Hyundai's less than spotless record here, not you, when you were taking highly exaggerated shots at BMW's needing bottom end work

I've owned two BMW's, ones being an M-car. My sister drives a 330i Performance which I've been in more times than I can count. I have a fair bit of BMW seat time. They are not perfect cars, nobody here is claiming they are, but there is a reason enthusiasts love them. You started the hyperbolic nonsense about them needing bottom end work at 70K based on a thread on this board about an M-car that happens to be fitted with an engine that has that issue. You never once mentioned Hyundai (the other marque being discussed here) having to recall almost 2 million cars for rod bearing failure, I had to bring that up after you made the dig at BMW.

Just trying to keep things on an even keel here. If one is taking pot shots at a brand they aren't keen on they should probably be sure as to the record of the marque whose virtue they are pushing.

Actually, I look forward to my daily commute in the Santa Fe. Don't know many that can say the same. I see lots of angry drivers in expensive Euro lemons.

I just related others' experiences. Sorry if the truth hurts.

I am not pushing Hyundai. OP asked for SUV recommendations, and I offered the V6 SantaFe based on my experience. And the snowflakes commenced to melt.

Apparently it is OK to rip Hyundai, but BMW is beyond reproach. Just makes the fanboys look like idiots.

Not at all. It's your $.

I have been pleasantly surprised with my Santa Fe. But apparently that isn't cool, like I care.

OP asked for G70 or Stinger and BMW as current vehicle.
OP in another thread asked for luxury vehicle not an appliance.

No, you made a targeted dig, grossly exaggerating a specific issue, which we've now covered several times. It had nothing to do with the truth, it was about making a shot, and that's fine, just own the fact you were taking a shot, don't try to downplay it like you were just doing your civic duty.

As per the thread title, the OP asked for opinions on the Stinger and Genesis G70 in comparison to the presently-owned 2012 BMW, which has needed some expensive repairs. Most of the responses have been in-step with that comparison.

If you want to rip on specific BMW deficiencies, rip away, just keep it real. I don't own my M5 any longer because it needed an insanely expensive 2-piece driveshaft replaced, new hangar bearing, camshaft position sensors and brakes (again) all at the same time along with some other issues that were EVAP-related and it was a lot of money to put into a car that had developed rust along the bottom of the passenger-side doors. I was presented with a wicked deal on the Charger and bought it. But I had no concerns that the M5 was going to need rod bearings. I knew the solenoids in the pan were both good and functioning properly, which, if they weren't, could lead to oil starvation if I tracked it. It was a truly incredible car to drive and I do regret trading it at times, despite the rust issue.

BMW's can be expensive to own. Weird stuff on them may fail or need replacement, but I think that's typical of German cars to some degree. The non-M cars are generally less expensive in this respect however, though my sister has had some rather wild bills because she likes how the dealership treats her.

As much of an expert as the BMW fanboy that hasn't driven the cars asks about, yet says they are not as good as said BMW.
